Good Morning!!!! 61F@11:15AM Mostly sunny. High 71F. Winds WNW at 10 to 15 mph.

Friends were in the area for a high school reunion over the weekend and took me to a steakhouse for dinner. He an I swapped motorcycle ride stories while his wife giggled. I also leaned he had open heart triple bypass surgery last year. Kaiser hospital sent him home when he first went to the emergency room, but there was a phone message for them when they got there telling them to return to the hospital. Six days later he got the procedure, and he was home three days after that. Good ol' Kaiser...

Had a nice bike ride along the Santa Maria river Sunday, but ended up with three flat tires after running over some burrs. Now shopping for knobbie tires for both bikes.

Another Public Safety Power Shutoff started at the house up north this morning at five o'clock. Now PG&E is saying the weather is improving and the power will be back on as soon as they run the lines via helicopter. If not for the monitoring system on the solar power system up there, I wouldn't have been able to tell the power was off.

Heading north tomorrow.

Good Evening Frits,
Any recommendations for wood filler compound to use for 2x2 inch hole?
Frits, have you thought about making a plug using a hole saw ! A 2 1/8” hole saw should give you a plug close to 2” OD !!
Then if there is a slight gap you could use a good wood putty or sealer and then paint ! JMO

Thanks Scott and others. Will have to have a center for the pilot bit. Maybe wedge a piece of wood into the irregular shaped hole and hole saw it big enough to cover the hole and then use a 1/8 inch over to make the plug
Good suggestion

travel safe RNG
David congratulations on your anniversary.

wow what a day. Excellent adventures we certainly had.
went to Santa Fe and walked around, then back for lunch at
a funky restaurant in Madrid. And the manager there had a home near New Hope Pa... small world for sure. what a cool restaurant, check out the 1942 IH? crawler
was that a military piece?
And they had an old steam locomotive there, with a few big tears in the boiler.
That girl will never see steam again.
and I believe that's a model A pickup.
might be a little past due on its inspection sticker...

I have about 50 pictures, lots of Santa Fe. Very artistic area
will post some now, some later

I don't think Ted's knee is going to recover for a week.
He really put in the effort to make this fun for me.
And I met his wife and son which was great.
Another very well stocked repair shop surrounding his LS tractor.
Very impressive and very neatly arranged

Santa Fe pics to follow

Santa Fe NM
and a cool metal sculpture place along the way
it is very educational to see the sign for the first commercial building in the United States.
1610. Right here by the Spaniards. Long before the East Coast...
this area has some serious history
and a lot of dead Indians I'm sure

I bought two hanging wind walker (?) ornaments as little gifties for the two ladies who have been faithfully watering my home's gardens while I'm away. The Native American lady behind the table took five dollars off for two, and bowed and prayed for me.
that sure was nice.

an observation on the local roads.
There is little to no trash. Folks don't seem to throw things out of their cars
around here. When we passed the big batwing mower being pulled by a 5 or 6 series JD, it left a perfectly clean cut. No trash, no chopped up white stuff at all.
I was impressed. Maybe the strong winds here blows it away...but even out on public roads, they seemed cleaner. Poorly paved and bumpy but cleaner.
seeing clean roadsides is a real plus for the community. I never saw any trash in Santa Fe, including in the park. And only one homeless. You could spend days in Santa Fe seeing things including three or four museums.

Ted lives in the great outdoors and he has built a little oasis for himself.
the care that went in that landscaping just makes you smile.
but you'd better have a good well if you live here because there's not much water and everyone wants it. 7 inches of rain a year makes gardening challenging without irrigation.

the water you put on plants is subject to the same drying, though of course reduced, the whole idea of drip, but as an example, I put a sopping wet bathroom size towel out on a chair outside in the sun and wind. I was worried about the wind and went to check in 45 minutes, though it was pretty heavy and stuck on the chair.
It was bone dry.
every bit of moisture sucked out of it.
you sure can dry clothes outside fast here, really fast.

Good (Tuesday) morning. Overnight Low of 9.1C and it's presently 22.6C, clear with a breeze.

A very successful day yesterday; tip run followed by a PO stop. Yep, the wine faeries again.

Then it was over to the tyre shop with the Left front Z-turn tyre = short story is that it was, indeed, the bead. 15 minutes later he (a former Navy Cadet of mine) handed it back to me, "No charge".

During the 15 minutes, I went next door to "Buster's" (Auto parts & more) and bought a new air line + male/female fittings. Also picked up a roll(?) of white Teflon tape for the threads... I know, I know, I'm sure that I'm not the only one who gets a new roll of tape knowing that I've 'probably' got a few somewhere around the shop. [Sure enough, there was one within easy reach on my bench]

Nothing really planned for today. That's about it, take care all.

thanks for the birthday wishes. Tomorrow is the actual big day.
... which means that it actually IS the big day, down here.

Happy BD, Mate!

We've got Jackalopes in Western Canada, too. You can find them in Alberta and Saskatchewan in the south. Not so much in the northern parts of the Provinces.

I got the one portable shelter rearranged. Everything I said I was going to put in there is in and with room to spare.

The Dodge goes in for its' snow tires swap tomorrow. The garage will pick it up and deliver it.

The mobile mechanic from my dealer is coming later in the week to change the thermostat (12 years old) in the tractor.

We're having some nice weather. Humid but low 70s daytime, 50s overnight.
Lots of morning fog warnings but clears by 10-11am.
Taking advantage in the afternoons of the nice weather.
Took the GT out for some cruise time before she goes into hibernation.
Filled her up with the best premium and burned off 3/4 tank.
Met up with a newer Corvette that wanted a go with my sweetheart.
I'm beyond that on the street.
We did stop for a coffee and fries at a chip truck. He didn't know Ford built a GT in 05/06.
Took a bit of a highway excursion and got into 5th.
Considering 1st is good to 60mph and 4th, 5th and 6th are ODs I was moving pretty good.
Our Thanksgiving is on October 14th. She goes in for winterizing after that. Fluid changes and put on different wheels and tires that don't matter if they flat spot sitting out the winter.
Hope to have a repeat of today's cruise Tuesday.
