good morning all
a nippy 37 in Salida CO, put the heat on when I got up, one small electric one wasn't doing the job. Besides I'm getting propane tank topped off at 8:30am here before I leave so why not burn a little and stay warmer.
This morning I head up 285 to Boulder area, actually meeting my brother's granddaughter in Walmart in Broomfield for lunch, then headed to Golden to campground.

Mostly, the odd yellow one was a somewhat custom line boring machine, or part of it. Something about working on Bugatti crankshafts? He often has to make parts from scratch. Poor guy's back hurt so bad last night we had to cancel dinner. He is coming over for coffee at 8am to see me off.

received a tip about free covid tests available again, and I ordered four
I think it's interesting they must be giving them away because they have too many from before, apparently some of them being sent out have past dates. But oh we have extended those dates. Really? how does that work...

Good morning! A tad cooler this morning as the wind is coming from the North. 59˚F heading to the upper 80s. PT today and whatever else I can get into. The grocery store still had toilet paper yesterday but limited choice and only about 25% of stock. Maybe since the strike is on hold the panic buying will stop.

Mostly EGO does not require return shipping on the defective battery, they suggest recycling it.

Drew thanks for the link to the covid test. Wife got vaccination last week but I am delaying till after full shoulder recovery.

I would have preferred this to be black or brown but brass is ok
you can't see it unless you stick your head under the table anyway and this way
it's strong for good.

Morning all, 56 going to 77 and cloudy.
Got rest of pool stuff stowed, pool house is very full.
Today into NYC to look at colleges.

Drew - that is an amazing stove, and house.

BEF - that was some trip, thanks for sharing

Be well,

Sedum here is deer chewed, but color seems same as last year.
Never a day I don't see a herd of deer and have had to cage up more plants than ever.

We stopped at Costco on way home yesterday down I81, as ours has been out of water. Got water. No TP in stock. Just a few paper towels left.

Saw lots of power co trucks, some heading home.
The disaster relief org we support is sending semi trucks of food and supplies. Most of their work is volunteers, very little overhead.
Need to pick up meds today, and mow grass.

Good Morning.
It’s 58° and sunny, now that the early fog burned off.

Progress continues, Cedar is almost finished, the concrete contractors are here prepping and forming the patio and walk.
There is a lot of complicated cuts in this small area, you can also see the new cedar against the over 40 year old stuff. It is not treated in any way, I used all VG grade, which is all vertical grain heartwood, it holds up to the test of time, as you can see.

In today’s market, it is breathtakingly expensive though.

I might be overly ambitious, but I’m hoping to get the big mowing done with the progressive mower and tractor later this afternoon after the digging for the walk is complete, and before this evenings rehearsal and pack up for tomorrow’s gig at a winery.

Good Morning,
Ct,50 to start going to 73 ! Another beautiful fall day on tap ! Although I’m sitting in Walgreens waiting for my Covid shot along with the flu shot ! 😉

Our electric company announced a rate increase...talked about inflation affecting costs.
GM, Wngsprd in Ct they have seen fit to charge all the Eversource electric customers an additional rate for those that can’t or won’t pay for their electricity! 😳 Last month my bill was $240 but with the additional fee added in I went up to $314 which is crazy IMO ! Oh well just pay it I guess!

Drew, that heating stove is absolutely amazing along with all the beautiful post and beam construction!

Dennis, some very interesting shots of the old locks !

Plans for today are to put some deck furniture away for the winter etc !
Hope all have a good day ! 🙏

It's even more interesting when you think that the early canals were actually dug by hand, the locks were hand laid up stone and animals towed the barges.
The early canals in NY the Erie and Champlain were only 3 feet deep and either 5 or 8 feet wide depending on who you believe.
One of the roads that I drive on parallels much of the canal, Rt.4 and in several locations you can see remnants of the older system.
They look like shallow drainage ditches now, almost all filled in over the years.

Good morning! Low of 48°, going up to 80°. Sunny.

Drew, that soapstone stove is big! Beautiful home, love the post and beam construction.
You will probably not see any balloons or deal with any traffic if you're going off on 87. Too far north.

Dennis, that's one good trip, covered a lot of ground for sure!

Buppies, hope they get the truck fixed and back to you asap.--- no excuses from them now....

Wng, neat companion for hiking. Not everyday you can see that.

Off to the university shortly, will make a Costco run too. Short list, so shouldn't be too bad.

PT is interesting to say the least.... doesn't feel like they are doing much of anything, then about 4 hours later, the nerves let me know that they were messed with. Strange that there is such a long delay. Not a good night sleeping last night.

Everyone have a great day!
