Good morning,
Missed posting yesterday, just one of those days that disappeared into the past.

14° now highs around 32° a mix of sun/clouds and light variable winds today.

Pick up critter food this morning and a few errands and the rest of the day just putter around.

Enjoy your day everyone
Stay safe and healthy
Prayers for all

Looks like the interior lights issue may be the Body Control Module which is a mini computer that controls wiring and lights.
Some of those separate control modules require programming or coded with the vehicle's ID. Seems like just another way around the "right to repair" crowd.

Just another uneventful day at the ranch. Except for some hog damage to some ornamental cactus. I guess he's complaining about the feed I left out. I don't know how they get around the spines. Poor guy. Ya gotta feel sorry for him. He's got one ear that's nearly torn off and just flopping around. Perhaps from a fight or barbwire (not mine).

Good Morning
18° and clear. High of 38 under clear skies.
Got about an inch or so of snow yesterday afternoon through the evening. More coming tomorrow night or Sunday.

Yesterday started with a service call for geothermal no heat. Issue turned out to be a burnt wire for the blower motor. Was not visibly obvious, but easily diagnosed and repaired.
Next up was some paperwork and computer housekeeping.

Then I got the pieces cut out for the mount I’m making to put a hydraulic winch on an Kubota excavator, to mount like a quick attach bucket. The plasma table cut the 1/2 steel as clean as a whistle.

Got some 3/4” steel for the next project delivered, probably start on that today.
I guess I ought to plow the little bit of snow that is out there so it doesn’t get packed into ice, and the sun will clean the blacktop today. After that it will be in the shop, waiting to hear if we are playing music tonight.
I heard from the estate selling the Lexus, that transfer might actually happen next week.

Good Morning to All who Celebrate! 32 currently going to a high of 39, just enough snow last night for a coating, nothing major.

Co-worker of mine learned a hard lesson on Tuesday: SLOW DOWN.

He was coming down the stairs of his house to a landing that turns 90 degrees, foot was off the second to last step, wasn't focusing and he slipped. wrenched his one ankle underneath him pretty badly and jammed his other foot against the baseboard. Couldn't put weight on the one he wrenched under him. Of course, his wife was already gone to work. So he had an undignified crawl back up the stairs to retrieve his cell phone to tell his wife to come back and get him.

Fortunately for him, nothing broken, just a bad sprain. Could have been a lot worse. He's a young dude too, so take it as a warning all of you more...ahem..."Experienced" individuals.

Other than that bit of excitement, week went well. Work not so taxing this week, typing this up and then a road trip to another branch. Near an equipment dealer...that I might peruse if the urge strikes me. Need to put the snow push back on the tractor in preparation for it to hopefully rain the next two days. I'm debating on brushing off the 100 hour service until it stops being so dang cold, likely won't hit 100 hours until early spring anyway. What I can't put off is my truck coming due for an oil change and inspection. Oh well.

Prayers for those ailing or recovering! Y'all BE SAFE out there and watch your steps! Enjoy the weekend all!

Morning all, 21 going up to 41 and cloudy.
Got about 1/4" of snow last night.
Got the fig tree trimmed out, took a while, snow started as I was about in the middle of the work.
Started Pear tree trim, will have to finish that with powered pole saw, too much for the manual one.

Happy anniversary Buppies, hope things settle down for you.

Popgadget/Paul - that table is amazing, how long did that cutout take?

Be well,

....

New friend of mine down here gave me a cast iron/enamelled kitchen sink a while back, and yesterday I got started refurbishing it. Darn thing must weigh fifty pounds, and I ended up winching it up onto the table that surrounds the BBQ pit in the back yard. ....

Wife and I recovered our original circa 1920 farm house sinks. Both were found outside under piles of nature by outbuildings.

You found out why they are not in some ones house. Super heavy. LOL.

We sent both to a pro refinisher. One is in the Milk House now. The other remains in the dining room, awaiting the eventual kitchen demolition. LOL.

Here is the Milk House refurb. That's all custom cabinetry (an old refurb/reworked base, a few 2X4's and plywood, left over tile) to make it fit!

riptides;
More domestic stuff and paper work on the agenda today. Got another monkey wrench thrown at me with my Dad's estate. The lawyers are costing me serious money now. Just wow, what a mess. Do everything possible to avoid probate.

That is why out of three heirs, there is only ONE that gets all my stuff. He is named on both life insurance policies AND my retirement plan. I haven't heard anything from the younger two in 35 years, so as far as I am concerned they don't exist.

3 out of 5 of mine fit in that boat.

landlady cancelled our lunch, she wasn't feeling well.
so off I went to Tinsman Bros to get some cedar lumber for birdhouses.
my new fence has room for three birdhouses
funny I always thought birdfeeders would be more interesting to folks but I'm told repeatedly
they either don't feed birds or aren't allowed to put up birdfeeders. Ok, they can make a mess.
But there are never enough bird houses.

one 1x6x12 and one 1x10x10 was 132 bucks or something eyewatering.
as usual they cut them in half for me, to fit in suv.
I put everything away, but despite bright sun out, just too cold.
will wait for a warm spell and some sunshine, then will run propane heater in garage and make
it warm enough to work in for the day.
The big question is always how large to make the entry hole.

I wouldn't mind making another owl house, my stepbrother in colorado loves his.
need to ask for some pics of his owl, since I think owls are pretty neat birds.
but not sure if there are owls around here.
Ken, hear any hooting in the woods?
Owl houses are bird houses on steroids, big box, lot of wood

cam phasers
a term I likely should have understood better before I bought this Expedition.
Though I did not hear any engine rattle or tick, I really wasn't listening for it.
apparently the 3.5 ecoboosts up to 2021 have a variable timing part that goes bad
in the 80-100k mile range. New improved "closed" cam phaser solves problem, but 4000 repair bill since engine
has to come apart.

anyone have an ecoboost with cam phaser problems?
sure want to identify that during my 90 day warranty.
otherwise repair shops seem to think it's a reliable motor.

I thought I had gotten away from hemi tick.
now maybe I have phaser rattle?
one reason I'm going full synthetic on next oil change.

I also read that the 10R80 ten speed trans really wants to have its fluid changed more often
than required, particularly if towing. Another excellent product, until it isn't.

D's Hyundai Tucson had that problem with the cam and it was still under warranty but she was missing one receipt for oil change so they denied coverage
Expensive lesson

65°F and 0 rain

Off to Hilo this morning for Friday follies.

Guys had an outstanding evening of cards, winning every hand. We celebrated quietly.

Probably just putter around a bit on return home unless I am suddenly overwhelmed with motivation.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Yeah, my wife wanted an Owl House. No problem I say....LOL.

Scrape up some wood, hangers, assemble, easy peasy...hang...

Built to specs, from some Owl Box "professional". LOL.

Forgot to include how heavy that thing got, forgot to include Barn Silo silage opening was 2 inches short of clearance. Had to cut the Silo to get the box in it.

Had to get the big ladder out, 30 feet up, way beyond comfort zone. Neglected to account for curvature of Silo, square box, round silo.

Had to get block and tackle out after reassembly of Owl Box hooks.

Had to get RTV out to hoist it up the ladder.

Saw one Owl land on it, in the years it has been up.

LOL, the Owl House should be a Chapter in the book on "Buying the Farm".

We certainly have Owls in the area. Have had a few fly by silently.
Then there is the screech owls that make a huge racket.
I am sure we have barn owls too, just rare to see them.
I think they might not want houses though (see Riptides update).

For us it's all robins and smaller birds that occupy the houses here.

Will go out in a bit to use the blower on the driveway, just to stop it from getting icy tonight.

/ Good morning!!!! #201,959
About 2 " of the white stuff on the ground here also. Used the blower on the vehicles, deck and concrete around the house. Tractor warming up now to move it around on the driveway.

Good morning TBN!!
29 this morning and may make the 50s under sun.
Late start today. Dumpster run already In and a dog walk.
Nothing special planned for the day but it will be outside. :)

We did and would like to until I caught the back bear on trail cam eating the bird food. Had it in a aluminum trash can that have teeth marks in them now.

Off to the outdoors!
Everyone have a great and safe day!!
