18°, won’t go up much. Will set new yearly low tonight, and again tomorrow night

Will probably get tractor out later. Unfortunately still got forks on, pellets on pallet, aimed wrong way.
Hard to decide to plow this amount.

Both geo units down 2°, but didn’t turn pellet stove up, it’s set low.

good morning, 15 high will be 19 today and going to a low of 7 later on

kept some oil fire going overnight. made it more comfortable this morning. stoked up the wood fire to get that nice radiant heat

Cleats were used this morning to be safe. never know where that ice is hiding under snow

Bubbies hope the eye appt goes well. I am adapting to the injury and getting along with modifications trying to protect that finger with the splint that seems to stick out and be in the way of everything I do. don't need a repeat performance

snow plowed some yesterday, about 6 inches and cleaned a foot path as best I could over to the garage for the rtv. this morning will improve on the snow clearing

Good morning, the low is -28 and going up to -4°F. Wind calm. Mainly sunny!

I am pretty sure I'm not going anywhere today. Just feed the stove.

Ron, nice woodpecker, no matter what model it is.

I remember when I busted my little finger, the quack at emergency said that after the swelling went down I would have to see a surgeon and get it rebroke to get it to set straight. I told her that wasn't going to happen. She told me if I didn't it would heal crooked. Both my little fingers are crooked. My mother busted her little finger and it was crooked, when I was born both my little fingers were crooked. Only kept the cast on for 2 weeks. It got in the way and I couldn't wear my rubber gloves to load asphalt.
So it is crooked, who cares? Not me. I wasn't put on this earth to win any beauty contests.

Have a safe day all.

Good Morning
11° under a clear sky, forecast is for that to double.

Yesterday started out grey and ended up white. I did get the mounting plates center punched on the excavator, the tool worked perfectly. Got the whole mount clamped up to see how it goes together.

Of course we had to take a break to fly models in the snow. Actually had an accumulation of ice on the model, you could tell from the performance that it was time to land.

Spent the rest of the day in front of the fire, watched the Eagles win in the snow, then went out about 945 after the snow stopped to plow, DIL had to leave for work at 5:30, and I didn’t want to get up that early.

Gonna get up, have some breakfast, and then go plow the neighbors. Probably back in the shop after that.

The wood furnace in the basement keeps the basement at 76°F, the same temperature as I keep the main floor. The cold air return for the oil furnace sucks up the warm air from the wood stove and reheats it to send upstairs. It seems to work good and I don't use as much oil that way. I subscribe to the theory of warm feet, warm butt.

Morning all;
A balmy 6F this morning. About 3-5 inches of wind blown snow to take care of this morning.
Better get busy so contractor can get up the driveway.

All stay safe and enjoy

Good morning TBN!!
18 this morning with some clouds. Won't get out of 30s again until late in the week.

Not to much yesterday. Got anti-freeze in the tractor and various other engines. Mostly they were good but wanted to be sure.
Not much else except entertain the dog and putter in the shop. Looks to be the agenda for today too.
Time for a second cup

Everyone have a great and safe day!!

Good Morning,
Ct, 10 to start going to 22 ! We got about 4” of the white stuff, but since it was warm when it started snowing there is slush under the snow so I’m thinking that I better get out there fairly soon before the slush turns to ice!

Should be an interesting inauguration this morning !

Hope all have a good start to their week ! 🙏

got the snow cleared, snowblower ran fine
taking a break to get drier clothes and will head back out to deice the expedition.
not sure sun will do it, going to warm up interior a little while I study the manual to figure out
what all the buttons do.
next thing to discover is the massaging seats, Maybe I don't have them either but i think so.
one of the old obd codes was a seat error so I need to test all the power seat functions.

I did the end of neighboring lane, none of five residents have a snowblower, and they hire someone if
it gets deep. but they had a ten inch hump at end of driveway so I knocked that down.

it's really going to be icy out there

Bluetooth headphones are great. I wear mine all the time when on the tractor or lawnmower. The headphones connect to my phone--That's where my music is stored. ;) They are also the noise cancelling type and work very well for engine noise. And you can still answer the phone if you want. They come in various price ranges. I use the Q20 Soundcore by Anker. These work very well without the eye watering price of Sony or the others. And they're rechargeable.

Good Morning!!!! 40F @ 5:30AM. Some clouds this morning will give way to generally sunny skies for the afternoon. High 64F. Winds WSW at 5 to 10 mph.

I have the same weather station as Paul, in service since 2016, with the Davis Weatherlink serial interface. Winds broke off an annemometer cup last year, and other than some bird poop in the rain gauge, it's been no trouble at all. Before that I had a Davis Vantage Vue, but it only lasted three years before it broke something significantly expensive, which prompted the move to the Vantage Pro. Should have bit the bullet in the begining and gone with the Pro to start with.
I also have the same Davis and sent it in last year for a Reman. they replaced everything that was not in spec. and it was 15 years old cost me $225 for the service way cheaper than a new one.
Thanks for the tip. I'll be looking into that when the time comes.

Glad the truck is working out, Drew. When will you start the transition from RV to travel trailer? Maybe you can get a copy of the window sticker from this website?

Hope the pain isn't too bad in the finger, Frits.

Replacement printer showed up yesterday afternoon. Got it working OK after remembering that the paper tray has to be down before it will print. Just like the old one. Already used it to print a membership application, sign it, then scan the signed copy and email it off.

I did get the connector depinned for the video mirror, but still need to find the correct terminals to finish the repair.

I have a CT scan scheduled for this morning, and will get some groceries while I'm out. Not sure what the rest of the day will bring.

Hope the week gets off to a good start for all of you!

Drinking hot cup of coffee. -1° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 9° with partly cloudy skies. Worked on modifying quick pin attachment for tractor. Most of the time was spent looking thru collection of scrap metal. Got started on one piece in lathe. Just not able to stand in front of Lathe and mill to do projects as long as I use to. Wish I had updated to CnC. With how cold it is outside it's good to work in a heated shop. More work on shop projects today.

Everyone stay safe and well.

Good Morning All.
Good pic Ron. I watched three Pilated bang on the neighbors tree for about a half hour on Saturday. Saw the first one fly in, he was huge! Looked like a skinny chicken. The other two showed up after about 15 minutes. My attempt to get a picture went about how I figured it would even though I slowly tried to get close enough for pic with iPhone.

Bitter cold this morning. I slept in. I need to go to the grocery store and grab a few things in case we lose power. Texas has the greatest power grid in the world but ya never know. Lytle is the dot in the middle of the map. I'm a little SE of that and still in the "danger" zone.

Good Morning to all who celebrate! Currently 16 going to a high of 21. Clear and Cold. Roads were a mess. Can see why boss took the day off today and dumb ol' me had to come in.

It has been quite the weekend, which started on Saturday with my father wanting to remove some junk trees that were competing with the pines he had planted years ago as a windbreak. For whatever reason, 271 would not idle. I need to look at the filter and spark plug as it's been quite some time. Of course, I didn't realize that until we were out there. So I contented myself with some grapple work:
18.jpg

Then I ran back to get the 500i, forgetting that the chain was loose because I was planning on swapping over to the 28" bar and chain to help my campground friend with some larger wood. Fired up easily enough, cut through the first junk tree and...chain came off.

A few minutes of fumbling with that, fire back up, touch to wood....won't bite. Chains on backwards.
Grumbling a little louder this time, I shut it off, and tore it apart, only to put the chain on backwards a second time. 🤬 (I'm good at this, I swear)
Third time was indeed the charm and the tree fell in 30 seconds after a whopping half an hour of fiddling with the saw. Not a strong showing from me or the Stihls. Tractor however, ran like a champ and the grapple saved my back:
19.jpg

Then the snow came, did nothing most of Sunday. Picked grandma up to have her come out and celebrate Dad's birthday. Didn't want her driving in the snow. Pot roast was delicious and enough of it that I didn't need dinner. Which was good, because I had to spend dinner time plowing out. Snow-push worked better this time now that I have a feel for it. I think if we had any more snow than the 5-7 inches I wouldn't have been able to move it. Or if it had been heavier.
17.jpg

Maybe next year I'll drop the 3-4k on a snow blower? Not likely, the amounts of snow we get just couldn't justify the expense...would be a fun toy though.

Survived the drive to work, Nothing too crazy. Back roads were forgotten it seems. Oh well. Now currently battling through the Mondays.
Goals for this week: Put more diesel in the tractor, grease the front end loader and get a look at the 271 if work will ease up.

Prayers for those ailing and recovering.
No more slips and falls guys! Please! We've done our share this year already!
Be safe out there and stay warm! Enjoy the week yall!

Is a good idea on the fall protection.

I wiped out on ice a few years back. I really feel if I had hit my head...well....

I managed to stay conscious, and held on to a flash light. Unfortunate I could not get up, so after a few minutes of trying to figure out what was working, I started an SOS sequence to the house windows. No one came...so I slithered back to the house. Crawled in, wife thought I was joking, I said call 911...and went into shock. Woke up in an ambulance ride to the ER.

If I had been knocked out, no telling when they would have found me.

Could have used some sort of alert a few decades ago when the tractor rolled too.

Now, when the weather is like this, ice, I usually tell people to check on me in ten minutes or so. Same for working on or near equipment.

It just takes a second to turn a life around in a bad way if no one knows what or where you are.
