Good morning!
We're still putting up the good fight! Ups and downs, good days, bad days.... I'm sure that goes with the territory....

Next treatment for Dona is next week. Hopefully they won't have to drain her pleural cavity again... last one was number 8, they withdrew 2000ml of fluid. Up from only 1500ml 2 weeks earlier.
Blood work is still somewhat wonky. We are hoping that it is going in the right direction when tested next week.

This is hard. As a paramedic, I was always able to help a person, even if it was an insignificant minor treatment.... now my hands are tied. I can only provide support. Doesn't seem right to me ---- I need to do more.....

If you guys remember, Dona's brother was diagnosed with esophageal cancer just over 2 years ago. He is not doing well, was in palliative care, but now moved into hospice. He is not able to communicate most of the time, only a brief time between med doses. He went from 300 lbs to 120lbs.

Needless to say, adding this to Dona's plate is really hard on her. She wanted to go see him before this......
He was able to spend a week with us last August. I keep telling Dona to remember that time. It was a very good visit between them. Dealing with her other family members is a different story. She is learning to ignore the drama......

I haven't been able to keep up with all the ongoings here. I hope all are doing well. I'll check in again next week.

64°and .36 inches rain

Major focus today will be getting almost packed for trip.

Will also spend some time with the house/pet sitters addressing any concerns. Don’t expect much as they have been coming here for years, known Kekoa since he was 6 weeks old, and been here since November.

Will be slow cooking some pork ribs for later.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Friends shed in Brisbane got hit by a falling tree in yesterdays Gale, luckily him and his wife are ok, they don't have power and no estimate on when it might come back.

So Dads' GF at accountants tells me her taxes are already done for this year.

Then when almost home (accountant is 20 min by freeway), says my dad took care of them.

Well that did not happen since he hasn't done any taxes for a few years.
So I told her to gather her paperwork and mail to accountant.
She won't be able to drive there.

She is really out of it, She is 84, dad is 88 and uncle about to turn 93.

Takes a lot of time to get her to write checks, she gets distracted and sometimes just wanders off.

I have a sodastream, make my own club soda, just add a little lemon or lime to it.

Paul/Popgadget - happy birthday to the Mrs.

LS hope this works well for Dona

Buppies - hope they find out how to help her

Be well,

nice visit with Ken, who has a larger soldering gun than I do and I think we got the
heating grid resoldered. Super glue added as belt and suspenders.

Happy birthday to Popgadget's wifey Erica.

Morning all, 43 going to 55 and sunny.
Back from San Diego, did not get much free time, either with dad or my uncle.
Hospice nurses not sure how dad is still alive, he has not eaten in a week or more.
Uncle is weak, but still very sociable, got him to agree to PT 2 x week to get his strength up since he fell again a few days before I got to SD. He is bruised but ok, he can stand and get around on roller/walker a bit. His back brace is off, so that is an improvement.

Spent day upon day getting dads bills paid, his GF has no idea what to do and is quite lost.
Brother got their car insurance and house insurance back from not being paid.
I got their property taxes paid and got dads paperwork to accountant, not sure what's been done since 2021, which is last filing doc I found .....
Got her to pay bills, bank trips for her to do Power of Attorney on accounts. Lots of driving and paperwork.
Said goodbye to dad Friday, not sure if I will see him ever again.

Took one morning to take a walk by Hotel Del Coronado to clear my mind. Only free time I took all week.

Be well, catch up later.
Sorry and prayers for your dad and uncle.

Prayers for Ted and Dona.

My mom fell, while trying to do a U turn with her walker. I'm sure she will be bruised up for a while, but she says only her ankle has a little pain. She's trying to not be a burden, but she needs help with most everything.

She stayed home from church because of the 30 something wind chill (windy) out this morning. The rest of us went. Then we went for TexMex afterwards.

The carburetor on the outboard is really locked up. Soaking it in penetrant. Hoping it will break free. Not finding a new carb with the same details online. Could be a game ender.

Effective February 14, 2025, the price for Microsoft 365 Personal subscriptions will increase from USD 69.99* per year to USD 99.99* per year

email today from my buddies at Microsoft.
I think not.
they've been badgering me to update my expired credit card.
that's one way to make them go away, don't pay them.

what a ridiculous price increase, almost 43 percent
I guess anything goes now out in the marketplace

Kyle, details on that outboard, again?

unless we hit something, I think most outboard repairs are to
the fuel system. After rebuilding my Yamaha carbs three time, four tiny little carbs,
I bought a new motor. And then promptly gave boat to my older brother who has it up
in Michigan. And now his carbs are acting up.
Ethanol fuel is a crime.
how about ditching that altogether and adopting the German clean gas.
but we won't, too much money at stake.
not only are folks like Cargill getting enormously rich on this stuff but it's costing most of us time, aggravation
and money
