good morning, 33 going to 54 with wind gusts to 37 MPH, lot of wind during the night

Ken I am way behind you in splitting wood but managed to get the splitter towed out from the milking parlor on the lower level of barn. Could not find the trailer hitch for the front of the RTV looking all the usual places until I realized it was on the back of the RTV. Changed the oil on the Honda engine. It started when turning the key not even turning a complete revolution before firing and that after sitting all winter.
Honda engines are the best

Listening to Michael Jackson this morning from my phone thru AV system. I really enjoy music everything from Frank Sinatra to Edwin Starr. Any personal mood I can cover long hair music included

Here is a great song about music and moods, one of my favorites.

Good Morning,
Sound Beach LI, 39 to start going to 50 with some wind. Nice time with our friends last night, went to a little Italian restaurant in Smithtown, Buon Appetito, great food and very reasonable with music. 😉

Looked on the Vermont camera, we got snow last night up there. Not much but a good covering.

Sounds like we may either go out to the Hamptons and see how the other half live, or the north fork and stop at some wineries. It’s interesting that where there used to be potato fields, they now grow grapes, for a much better profit.

Hope all have a great day 🙏

Good Morning
36° and a clear sunny sky. We got almost 1/2” of rain as front blew through last night, making today breezy, but clear.

Yesterday I worked on the downed trees until I ran out of steam. It’s still too wet to get the tractor and grapple in there to clean it up, but I made a brush pile and cut up the trunks into manageable pieces.

Fortunately, the damage to the fence was limited to the fabric that I planned to replace this spring anyway, so I lucked out there.
I did some puttering around in the shop, gathered up the trash and recycling and got it all to the street, then decided to make some burgers for dinner.

Beef was from neighbors steer, pork belly was what I smoked a few days ago, some sharp cheddar and home made pickles, it was a good meal.

Not sure what’s on tap for today, looks like music tonight, I’ve got to get moving on the pad for the shed, it’s coming Wednesday.

wngsprd, using GRK structural screws to pull in the end band board. They have a cutting edge at the tip to help bore a hole to reduce chance of splitting. I did use timberloc brand (black) i had for a couple posts.
There’s a 3” GRK in there also

Good Morning! 36˚F heading to 80˚ with sunny skies and S wind.
Yesterday was good weather at the "farm". a good crowd, I actually had to turn a family down from riding on the trailer because it filled up (60 people). Only had one empty trailer late in the day which I used for a fuel refill stop.
The 200,000 Tulips have all been plowed under in preparing the field for a maze, probably African grass it grows thick and is drought tolerant.
The strawberry field will yield a bumper crop this year if there is no freeze for the next month there are already little green strawberries on the plants.

Good Morning to All who celebrate! 36° going to a high of 55°, windy this AM. No real storm activity here, we could do with a little more rain.

Going to have to put off the mower again for another week, better to bring it in when the folks are gone and then pretend like it's always been there.
Property hunt has been sluggish, really hope I can find something workable soon. There's a few possibilities on the horizon, and once the weather turns hopefully the market will too.

Nothing major on the docket this weekend, I could do with a slower paced weekend. Feels like I've been non-stop lately, so taking a breath isn't a bad idea.

Prayers for those ailing and recovering!
Y'all stay safe out there and enjoy the weekend!

Don, healthy looking strawberries, a rabbit's dream

found one more project in rv, replacing an overhead led light that was flickering.
ordered a replacement, 9 bucks, will be in tomorrow.
and then while cleaning knew it was time to move my Texas pin inside.

I also peeled my rv state map off the interior wall, ever so carefully and will find a place for that
in my office

Morning all, 38 going to 54 and windy, sunny. 1/2" of rain overnight

Got some hanging branches down and cut/stacked a bunch of other fallen branches.

Thanks to Drew's reminder, went out and planted some radishes. :)

When I was a kid, many of my tires/wheels came from the junk yard. $20-30 each, sometimes with the rim and mounted!. But then again, the last alternator I bought for my buick in the 80's cost $35, now alternators are $200+

Scotty - I grew up on Long Island, we used to get our own seafood, fish and plenty of inexpensive duck on the plate. Were lots of sod farms as well as potato on the North Fork. I used to know some of the winery owners, they have all sold out or passed on. My brother lived on the North shore for years and my best friend still does, a few blocks from the bay. Spent a lot of time in Northport and Huntington in my teens. I only took the ferry to CT once as a kid, brother took it for a while but the long queues in the morning/afternoon turned him off and he started doing the drive commute instead.

Took a day off from paperwork yesterday, will start again today.

Be well,
Got first and second mess done, then started working on this one. This is a maple I think, the rest were cedar or the usual ash. Nothing bigger than 12" so just used the pole saw. With today's wind, maybe the top hinge will break and I can cut the dead part of the trunk down.

All this talk of tires, I'm replacing 4 on the camper tomorrow.

Ken, the best part of that old alternator was it could be swapped out in about 15 minutes. Nowadays it takes longer than that to remove the plastic to see how much other junk has to be removed to replace the part you're after.

Used to be easy to do. The recent alternator replacement on the 6 cylinder Mercedes diesel was 700 dollars just for the alternator and then on top of that the second AC compressor had to be removed for access to replace it all working from under the van

Kyle how do you boot a simless phone?
Phones will still boot up, but only can dial 911. You can still access wifi internet and run the old apps on my old samsung.

must be the day for washing machines
The new one was delivered and hooked up. The drain hose had to lengthen since I had moved it a bit to make room for a table. Very simple controls which is what I like. However it cost 3 times the cheapest one

I was just told the dealer in my hometown is sold out. He said that the factory took a week off to re-tool. Says he can't keep them in stock. I did find out they offer an option to delete the lid lock, allowing you to throw that pair of socks in after you've started it.
He said most of these units will last a family about 25 years with very little trouble. I just got a TC5 quoted for $1479, so not cheap, but the button allows you to deep fill the unit if you have a big load.
Hope y'all are feeling better.

watched another spaceX launch, then watched spaceX land the crew from the space station.
Wife went to check supper, forgot to turn oven on... so we went out. Got a crab cake, was OK, but expensive. Loaded potato soup was very good.
Went to Lowes to show her the trex they have, only I forgot that Lowes didnt have it in stock, the other Lowes in town has it, but showed her the sample. Going to check if I like the next color that HD carries. Another day.

Dad was interviewed and on TV today for his 101 birthday coming up this weekend.
Awesome about your dad. I told my 96+ yo mom he was driving his tractor until this past year.
spacex to the rescue. Sad about the astronauts getting stranded up there because of crap happening in some circles.

Masseyrider southern Ontario good morning. Got dishes put up laundry to do missing pocket knife sad looked at job have three to figure up just no desire. Spent $6000 on clean up so far 1/3 done got to figure out something different.

I miss my woman she called twice last night thinks she’s in different hospital wants to come home gets mad when I will not get her does not understand I just cannot get her.

Doctors appointment this morning at 8:30 endocrinologist doing better but when insulin was hidden is going to show up hit 575 a couple of times.

Massey have 5.5 turbo great sound lots of power just need to get desire back. Grass getting green need to service mowers. Another new feature I’m mower man now. Holly did it for 47 years she loved to do it. I need to retire.

After doctors appointment meeting with doctors at Hollys hospital then visit with her I’m excited but realistic.

Prayers for all silent or spoken our country

Ken’s family, Kyle’s family, mostly

Nice rides there. Snazzy or Doozie comes to mind.

One car is 9 years old one 11 years old

Listening to sound track from The Living Daylights. Mostly John Barry did several of the songs interesting he did songs from Dr No the first movie if memory serves me correctly.

Sorry I have so much to say been feeling helpless for a long time now coming out I guess.

Filled up truck last night lady working there asked me if I was going to play mega millions when I said no she said if I would and would win she would marry me made me laugh. Told her I was already taken but son was available
Keep venting here. We are listening and praying. Try to meet with other people, just to get out. Talk with a pastor.
I would surely come visit if I lived nearer.
Prayers for both of you.

Been taking the online hunter's safety course. My son just started his last night. It takes many hours. We have a class Saturday morning at 9am about 2 hours away.

Have been side tracked by busy work and taking care of mom. She's so appreciative.

At work, I joke about having 25 bosses. I have a new boss, whom is a young guy who joined our team a few years back. He just finished his masters. I'm glad he can do all the bureacracy and I can just keep doing my job the same as I've always done. Had I taken the boss job, I would have had to change my duties and then we'd have no one to really maintain the equipment.

We have mowed the spring weeds already twice down here.

Don, y'all really have a nice home!

Do any of you have a LAZY BOY electric recliner that has a control to recline and raise the footrest? Can you recommend them? My mom needs one.

Prayers for our team.

ahhhh German engineering, when in doubt, make it complex!

my new GE washer has twice as many controls and settings as Frits's new one at one third the cost.
but surely the age old story of quality over quantity...
plus just more things to break
nice looking Speedqueen

I remember my grandfather's first gen washing machine in the basement]
with the manual wringer to the side over a tub with drain. Wooden handle on the wringer, probably
very familiar to some of you
always trying to get a sibling to put their fingers in there...

Was 1399 for the TC5 and it was in stock fortunately
It has the no-lock lid standard and stainless tub. It has a smaller 3.2 cubic feet tub that may limit large loads with comforters for some.
That model is very popular and the heavy duty construction is easy to see by just looking at the gear box that has casings bolted together instead of pressed steel casings typically used

We have three of them. Wife and daughter needed them because of their back surgeries.

I got one because the wife demanded a matching living room set and because I am exhausted all the time.

We have battery backups on all, they seem to be trouble free so far. They are comfortable for sure. A little pricey....but then again, they passed the back tests.

We bought a pair for Myla's parents through Costco, but I can't remember whether they were Lazy Boy brand. They worked great and never had a problem.

Wife got one from Golden Technologies that she likes. It lifts, reclines, inclines seat, raises foot rest and tilts to make it easier to get up and battery backed up as well

I have 2 Lazy Boy electric chairs. Remote is hard wired. They have foot rest, head rest, recline, and lumbar. Sure makes it comfortable to make each of those adjustments independently.
I had problems with one of the remotes. Turned out it was a pinched wire that had been caught under frame. I fixed the wiring.
Ordered chairs with fabric that have a long warranty. Mine are 8 years old.
I would recommend them.
