Good Morning to all who Celebrate! Currently 67° heading to a high of 77° scattered clouds and sun but rain forecast for later this afternoon.

Short week, crazy week. Everyone's trying to get the things done they pushed off for the long weekend. In the process of putting an offer in on 16 acres. Loan officer I was working with informed me that the pre-approval I mentioned in a previous post is not good for bare land. 🙃 So now to start the whole process over, fortunately I found a place that seems to want to work with me. Main goal for today is to fill that out for the blood-suckers and hopefully get a decision by end of day so I can move forward with the offer.

Otherwise not much going on at the homestead. Rain has kept much of the big issues away. Still need to do away with the pile of tanbark, only a few spots left to put it. Maybe some mowing if it ever dries up. I can feel the heat of Summer coming and I'm already not looking forward to it.

Y'all stay safe out there and be well!
Prayers for those ailing and recovering!

Ken, I think you'll like that mower, have the same one, one model different but same thing
you definitely got your money's worth out of those simplicity's you had.

Buppies, I agree on new/used but at this point in my life, on a much reduced income, buying new $80k vehicles is not sensible.
And since I like to tow things, I need the tow vehicle to be up to snuff. Hence the elective maintenance.

am wondering if I can get a mow job in later, before it rains again

good morning, 65 going to 73, flood watch in effect for our area until tomorrow morning.

Hoping to get some more wood stacking in before the rains or some mowing

Stacked more wood yesterday until my back protested then switched to changing oil and filter on the tractor. Almost overflowed the oil pan. Been so long forgot how much oil it takes and also the oil filter wrenches would not fit behind the filter
Then remember that I had used the rubber strap wrench last time and that worked

Good Morning
62° and foggy, supposed to clear up with a high in theupper70’s, thunderstorms tonight. For as grey and ugly as it’s been outside, we got less than 1/10” since yesterday.

Yesterday was primarily spent in front of the computer doing government mandated work stuff.
This late night visor rang my doorbell camera just past midnight the other night.

Daughter in law set off smoke detectors cooking in the main house, they are interconnected with ours, it seemed like a good idea at the time…..

Not sure what’s on the agenda for today yet.

on this day a few years back I was mowing the roadsides with a Land Pride finishing mower
and my MF 4707
basically did all the roadsides on the way to other side of farm,
was clear where I did it vs county crew who mowed too low and always left huge clumps
my land was on the right; could get tractor over in that area but behind me the slope was much greater.
I never liked mowing on slopes so when in doubt mowed it with the Gravely.
The motor sits so low in that/overall low CG that never worried about tipping over.
I did not want this big tractor tipping over for sure.
likely I would chicken out long before the tractor did

Good morning TBN!!

55 this morning with a chance of possible severe weather around lunch time.
I didn't do too much yesterday. Got the old tank "staged" to pull out. Too heavy for my tractor to do it alone so waiting on some help.
Also moved some more dirt for a bit to make room for part of the tank that will become a wall to direct current. A little dog walking and giving my wrist some more rest. It is feeling pretty good today but not ready for prime time :)

Already had my second cup
Off to whatever.
Everyone have a great and safe day!!

60F and mostly cloudy @ 09:30, calling for a high of 64F for the day. 70% chance of rain with a slight chance of thunderstorms later this afternoon.

Three calls from doctors office this morning before 09:30. Start at 08:00. They are nothing if not persistent.

Finally picked it up on the third call.

I have a follow up appointment this afternoon and they were wanting to remind me and ask some questions about whether anything had changed since my last visit.

Told the girl that in the afternoon the day before would probably be a better plan ... ;)

Yesterday went a different direction than I was planning on.

Got all feeders refilled 1st thing.

Then worked on trimming up that 4’ tall roll of 2 x 3 wire mesh fencing I rescued from the neighbor. Ended up with about a half dozen larger wire cages for trees and shrubs of various heights.

Decided to take the Kubota over to the barn and fuel it up as it was getting low.

Ran a longer bamboo stake down in the nozzle to make sure it was clear and gave it another shot.

Pulled the old filter and installed a new one and cleaned out the sediment bowl which had a 1/2 inch of mud in the bottom.

Still no joy.

Pulled the dispensing pump and discovered that the pvc fitting had cracked and the pick up tube was MIA. Probably fell down into the tank.

So down into the basement to grab a section of 1” pvc pipe and see if I had the correct fitting which I did. Then trip down to the corner hardware store for fresh primer and glue.

Got the pipe cut to length and that all put together when I got back home and let it set for a couple hours to cure.

Worked some more on the wire cages while I was waiting.

Once the pick up tube was installed the pump worked fine … but I still have a slight leak up around the nozzle. Will need to check into that further.

Hose is the original and is looking a little rough in places probably should be replaced. But I think the leak is actually in the nozzle.

Did locate a rubber cap for the nozzle up in the shop the other day … just need to bring it down and install it.

Swapped out the forks for the shrub/stump bucket in preparation for a little harvesting and transplanting.

Final item for the day was getting the compost/woodlot all mowed. It had gotten up to 8 - 10 inches tall in places so I set the deck height to 4” and had at it.

Agenda for today:

Doctors appointment later.

Maybe dig up a couple of redbud trees and get those potted if not raining.

Otherwise more clean up in the shop.

See what else comes up.

Hope everyone is having a decent Friday …
