Good morning, the low is 57 and going up to 77°F. Wind WSW 5 mph. Sunny!

June in these parts is a bad month to do work outside unless the wind is blowing at about 20 mph. June 2024 I saw 2 blackflies take off with one of the cats. One mosquito brought it back. I've tried garlic spray to kill them off, you gotta apply when the grass is short and no wind. Doesn't work. A colossal waste of money. Of course the goobermint outlawed the stuff that does work. Can't even import it.
I've tried the electric wasting bug zappers for outside and although they work good inside (I've got a 'food grade' one in the kitchen), they are a waste of juice outside.
So I just bide my time and get real selective about when I can do certain tasks outside.
In the 50’s my family spent a lot of time enjoying Sturgeon Bay Provincial Park. One June we decided to go up there for some Pickerel fishing. Did not take long and we were covered with Black Fly bites. But the fishing was good. Northern Michigan has the same problem. If you do not want to get Black Fly Bites. Stay south until July.

after chasing the squirrels away, I refilled the feeders with the good stuff,
and sprinkled some on the ground where they have worn away the lawn.
before that I took leaf blower and blew all the shells into the lawn.
some doves like to hunt the seeds in thicker lawn, some like the hard surface.
just had to go blast a squirrel off the furthest feeder. Got him good, he went running
but they are tireless foragers
he and his buddies will be back
the squirrels scare off almost all the other birds.
but my aim is getting better... 🤠

Squirrels are quite entertaining we have a bird feeder that throws them off very funny to watch. Bear got it need to find parts to put back someone put them in a good place and cannot find them

Good Morning
70°, hazy and 84% RH. High of almost 90 is forecast, but no rain.

Yesterday started with a service call, then breakfast, moved some more stuff into the shed, I really can’t move any more until I build more shelves though. Waiting on wife to figure out what she wants for shelves.

I polished the hazy headlights on wife’s Lexus, got a 3M kit that had sandpaper starting at 500 grit, and finishes with 3000. Then they get wiped with a clear coat to finish. They look like brand new now. I should have taken pictures, the before and after was stunning, as I did one side and then the other.

After that project was complete, I had to go out on another service call, the first hot days when everyone fires up the long dormant AC makes for a busy season. And I only help out with the overflow, or when a friend calls.

In between, I did manage to get two coats of urethane on the new window trim, so that’s ready to get swapped out. A good inside project. Today might be the day to get some mowing done, at least the open areas that keep me in a climate controlled cab.

Meeting at the RC club field this evening, I’ll bring something to fly as well.
Should be a busy enough day, even if nothing gets added on, like a Costco run.

Morning all, 70 going to 90 , hazy
Got the pool powerwashing done, woohoo.
Now to get the furniture out and do some more cleaning.

Drew, how big is the hole you need and how long. I have a plug in hammer drill and plenty of bits.

This afternoon is first big presentation to new boss.

Be well,
New grass mowing crew showed up. We missed our old box turtle that I found dead in the woods two years ago. This one looks a bit younger, but not by much. We saw the old one lay eggs many times, which almost always got dug up until I helped the last batch. Maybe this one is from that batch? With fox, raccoon and raptors, who knows what survives.
Moved off to the back woods so it does not meet the mower.

Partly cloudy and 70F @ 09:00, calling for a high of 79F for the day with an 80% chance of thunderstorms this afternoon.

Fed the little cat and let her out into the garage to go on Safari.

Finishing up about 1/2 cup of leftover coffee from yesterday until Woman gets up and makes a fresh pot.

Just opened up the little greenhouse in the dining room and had a look … probably another dozen tomatoes in there that have gotten too big for it and need to be moved to the shelves round back.

Plus some that need repotted from the original seed starter trays.

Worked on one of the long boards for the raised beds that had a split in the end last night. Got it glued up and clamped.

There’s at least one more that needs a similar treatment.

Probably work on getting some summer squash planted and caged this morning while keeping an eye on the where the rain is so I can try and finish up the mowing on the west side.

Then maybe more clean up in the garage or up in the shop once it starts precipitating.

Hope everyone has a decent Thursday …

I planted mine over a month ago and with the rain and cold they've had a tough go of it.
Only maybe 2" at best.
With the slow warming I'm hopeful my field will look something like this at some point.
There's a lot of local critters counting on it.
Yellow Finches for one. They show up by the hundreds.
The neighbor is convinced that since I started planting the sunflowers, aboot 15 years ago, the Finches have changed their migration path. He says before it was rare to see a few talk about in their hundreds.
