The hope is they both return to the show next year and pump side by side.

Evening all;
The day here started out nice but warmed up fast from mid 60's to mid 80's by noon and now we have a front blowing through and it has dropped to 66F. Some areas have gotten some rain showers but none here and we could use it. This spring and early summer was soggy wet, but once the faucet was turned off it's been bone dry, all the corn is curling up tight.
I guess I have officially become grumpy old man now. Between COPD, my heart, knees and hips and weight. I have lost my ability to do much, can't even walk over a 100 feet without looking for a bench to sit for a couple of minutes. Haven't been to a single truck or tractor show this year. Only been to one tractor pull decided that had to change so in light of the cartoon with the various wheels of time;

a scooter to get around with......................................and a carrier with a ramp for the pickup
Scooter 2.jpg
carrier 1.jpg

The County Fair starts next week, damned if I missing it again. Only got to see about a quarter of it last year. Drive to the cow barns and make a loop of the barn, then drive to the next and repeat.
Not real happy with the carrier, my pickup isn't that tall but the ramp doesn't reach the ground and the tailgate is unusable as it hits. So a 4" drop receiver extension is on order, hopefully that fixs some of the problems with it. Plus I ordered a bunch of new Button head bolts washers and nyloks to replace the too short fasteners, and get rid of the hex heads that may get those tires.

Lou, my Dad added an electric cylinder to a similar carrier to lower it to load my moms scooter. Makes the angle less treacherous. Tailgate use remains an issue tho.

Good (Monday) morning. Overnight Low was a frosty -2.0C and it's presently 9.9C, clear & calm.

Church was very good yesterday, followed by lunch with my guests at the "Pub in the Paddock" in Pyengana. (Yummy Seafood chowder for me)

I'm off to the Vietnam Veteran's Day Parade/Ceremony in about a half hour. Later on this evening [1730] we're travelling to Bicheno to do a 'penguin tour'... there's a fairy penguin rookery there.

That's about it, take care all.

So I had to order my son a new tennis racket. His old one finally broke. It was his sister's prior to him using it. We got it at the big garage sale by TxDon years ago. My daughter let a friend use it and he hit it on the net. It cracked 1 side of the hoop. It finally cracked the whole thing. He was used to it because it was relatively light....

I did not know there were so many parameters of a tennis racket's construction. Maybe around 12 or more. After a lot of surfing, I bought him a Babolat on sale. I wasn't going to spend the farm because I still consider him to be a beginner.

We just went to practice and he had to use a heavy racket, and he said he liked it a lot. We'll know more how he plays in his games tomorrow.

If he wants a heavier racket, I'll have to send the one back and order a different racket.

Church was really good.

Lunch at Whataburger.

I am having trouble filling my GM SUV. The pump clicks off after .2 of a gallon, and have to trickle it in. Very time consuming. The evap vapor system is a bit complicated with the solenoid breather valve, the charcoal canister and the valve up by the engine. I climbed underneath and pulled the hose off the valve because it is notorious for breathing in dust and sticking. Not sure if I did any good yet. Will have to see. Next will be replacing the solenoid valve and the charcoal canister.

Tired from the weekend. Need some ibuprofen...

Nice pics y'all, Ken, Ron, ArlyA, Drew and all.

Prayers for our team, peace in Ukraine and ******.

good morning all
much cooler morning; in fact ten day forecast is surprisingly cool for end of August
have a routine dentist appt this morning, hope it turns out to be only a cleaning.

Lou, glad you got improved mobility and very interested to see how that scooter works out for you.
I still have a MRI to get this week to confirm it but xray says I have bone spurs in my hip ball and socket, so walking
is starting to hurt. I'm either headed for a large back operation likely, or I have to simply put up with it.
That scooter looks very nice.

I went through this scooter research with my late wife when she got very sick, but was determined to get around, despite
legs full of edema. We found pulling a small trailer with my first golf cart in it worked best for us.
I could never solve the ramp issue on what you have installed, so very interested to see if loading is first of all safe and second
not too hard. Traction?

looks like I have some tomatoes to chop up today.
might take a few up to Popgadgets as I need to return a spark plug to him

Good Morning,
front coming through later really must be bringing cooler weather in.
GM Drew, a welcome break in the weather for sure 😉
I have lost my ability to do much,
GM Lou, sorry to hear that Lou, hoping the scooter enables you to get around better and not miss the fairs. Is that the Washington County Fair ? I have been wanting to go to that one for years 😉

Good Morning,
Ct, 64 to start going to 74. Nice crisp air came in last night, what a relief over the past few days weather.

My youngest son and wife are taking the grands to Lego Land later this morning, it’s somewhere over in NY State, not exactly sure of the location but it’s a bit of a drive. My wife is going to try and manage the kiddos, I’m taking the day off from kids 😂 We just had an entire weekend of of watching kids so I’m thinking it’s a good day to play radio.

Ken, nice pictures looked like a fine day for it.

Engineer, thanks for that pumper pic, can’t imagine how much work it was back in the day.

Hope all have a great start to their week. 🙏

/ Good morning!!!! #210,313
for one year I drove our local fire company's fire trucks, lot to learn, complicated when you are hooked up to another truck
supplying you with water. Compare the panel of a new Pierce pumper with that old steamer. I bet both would look equally impossible
but at least the modern stuff has big labels on everything. Tank to pump has been around a long time. I had to stop because my back got so bad
I could not lift the hard suction hose up high on side of truck.

I wonder where they got their water from in the old days. Ponds likely. Or the River.
bet there are some cool vintage/antique fire water tankers out there.

Let's try this again. Posted in Humor the first time. Before the second cup :)

Good morning TBN!!
66 now but it's going to be hot and humid again today. HI over 100. 98% humidity right now.

Spent yesterday with the 3 pt QH. Ended up having to cut a piece of the top link connection on the box blade. A modification made to beef it up. Still have a bit more to work on before the top link will catch it.
Also I brought a cut part of the tank up to the shop to weld a hook to it so I can swing it in to place today. Concrete coming Sat so I have a few things to finish up with that.
It's not getting any cooler so I better get to it.

Time for a second cup
Everyone have a great and safe day!!

73 outside right now, upper 70's expected and that is all.

Trip was a success. MIL met another great grandchild. We all dealt with the heat except my nephews wife. She had a hard time of it. Overall an interesting experience. Just sort of shot the whole day for us though. Also dropped the SIL off at the airport. Which was crushed, as in busy. Today I am planning the real job week and trying to check off the house farm chores. Not much else going on. Not sure what the weather will bring. Late yesterday a bolt of lightening and rain chased me in from the horse chores. I guess I need to watch the weather better. It was unexpected.

Hope all have a good day and a good start to the week. Be safe.

Good Morning
A much cooler 64° this morning after yesterday’s heat.

I managed to get all the mowing done yesterday, got the machinery put away before the rain.
It went from this-

To this in a short time.

Didn’t get much else done, helped son a bit with bridge over the narrow end of the pond, helped grandson fish a bit, looked over my buddies truck for the crane, and called it a day.

I’m off to Portland again this morning, but wife should be home if you stop by Drew.
