69F and "Fair" @ 11:30, heading up to around 75F. Looking to be another late Summer beautiful day.

Nearby LWS reports low this morning was 44F.

Got the front lawn all mowed yesterday.

After that I watered the west Redbud tree and day lilies around it, around 10 gallons IIRC.

Then took the Buffalo up and put 6 gallons into the hole I tried to drill up by the shed where the ground was so hard.

Then gave 2 of the small oak trees along the road 4 gallons each.

With that the Buffalo was empty so I brought it back down to the house and hooked it up to refill on slow flow.

Woman came out while that was happening with a “tech support” phone question. Was able to resolve that for Her, Buffalo was full, and dinner was ready so I headed inside to chow down.

Woman made a meatloaf, baked potatoes, and sautéed green beans from the garden.

After dinner I headed back outside and started watering the east and northeast planting beds ... which have been badly neglected this summer.

Left soaker running on low flow on the pole beans and west side of arched trellis while I did that.

Four rhododendrons watered and fed. The 2 large ones got 6 gallons each and the 2 smaller ones 4 gallons each.

Lilac bush got 4 gallons.

Some hosta and other plants watered, plus all the day lilies.

And with that the Buffalo was empty again. Took it over by the garden and dropped it off and then went and collected the dump cart and parked the Cub over there as well.

Then came on inside.

Agenda for today (in no particular order):

Refill the Water Buffalo.

Water all the arbs.

Use whatever is left to water the rest of the oaks up along the road.

See if I can't get that planting hole up by the shop re-drilled, now that it's been wetted down.

Start hauling down wood chips to mulch the east side garden expansion where I sprayed the other day.

Beyond that just see what else comes up.

Hope everyone is having a decent Sunday ... (y)

made a nice meatless lunch based on supermarket's foccaccia with red sauce and mozzarella, on which I
had ladled sauted broccolini with lots of fresh garlic, and then sprinkled with parmesan and baked for half an hour.
yum
plus another lunch tupperwared, won't be as good nuked

71°F and .44 inches much needed rain Light and intermittent thru most of the day.

Spent too much time attempting to repair puppy modified 3rd light wiring on my Tundra. Able to get mangled connector reinserted but light not working. Then I realized I have never actually seen it work, just assumed it did.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Good afternoon, I'm a little late today. The low is 68 and going up to 75°F. Wind SSW 7 mph. Sunny!

Today is a day of rest for me anyway. Tomorrow is going to be as nice as today, so maybe tomorrow I will get out and actually do something.

Re all the cucumbers: I would eat them. Straight up, skinned
(don't like cucumber skins), swimming in vinegar and as a last resort pickled.

Drew, are you renting that house? Or did you buy it?
If it was mine I would strap it and re-roof it in steel.

Ribs for supper tonight. Can't wait.

Have a safe day all

yellow jackets are not your friends
alpha insect with a bad attitude

got food shopping done, had fun with my 10 % off coupon, tried a few new things

my first job is changing the water filters on house, bet they are nice and gunked up.
Jet well pump sends a lot of junk down the line, mostly rust colored
FWIW: There are self cleaning (backwashing) sediment filters available. We use them on our wells to get 3 micron sediment removal. The upside is cleaner water and maintenance only every 5-10 years or so, but the downside is that they aren't cheap.

and I still got distracted from changing those filters...this time with a not so small "get to".
nice afternoon, worried about sand grout turning into a rock, so went ahead and grouted the front walkway.
It will dry lighter, and should look very nice until January, when freeze and thaw will send some of those
pavers an inch upwards. This stuff will sure crack then.

was going to use a broom but wound up down on hands and knees with a shop bench brush making it as nice as I could.
Then I gently blew it off with Makita hand leaf blower to get loose dust off, then wet the surface.

maybe tomorrow for the filters...

75 which looks to be the high for the day

Another window was worked on. Several more to go

Worked on the post at the barn thinking it would be easy to siamese a post on to the existing one. But after getting the 25 ton jack all tapped out and using two 3/4 inch treaded rods as well it was not sliding fully in place. At least I got a good work out.
Will leave it to another day and get a second 25 ton jack on it as well.

Good (Monday) morning. Overnight Low of 3.3C and it's presently 16.8C, clear & calm.

It's the first 'official' day of Spring as Australia goes by calendar. We've got another month (5th Oct) 'til DST comes into effect.

Nothing planned for the week except for the regular stuff. That's about it, take care all.

Good afternoon and evening all. 68ºF for the start, trace rain in the gauge, overcast, light breeze. 2 periods of rain that were forecast did not occur. Light wind, some breakup of clouds occurred, and high temp was 87ºF, HI 95ºF. Slept through alarm for an hour :( missed setup portion of chapel. In the process of getting ready for chapel found wallet had fallen out of shorts. One of the breakfast guys bought my breakfast, found wallet hiding in chair. Office work, then lunch, nap, start in on tractor posting. Went over to Stepdaughter's, she lost a foster dog they were trying to nurse back to health, and pick up temp MP3 holder she made. will take a break then do more posting.
Resuming Thursday 8/28 12:04 PM post 210,701:
Ton(eng) thanks for the link.
Mike I mow as high as mower allows most of the year, about 3 1/2 inches. I read somewhere the taller the grass the deeper the roots go, which helps the grass during drier times.
RS hope you got some rain. Glad your watering is keeping the garden going. The mildew looks like you dusted the plants with white powder. I always though clear snot from allergies. Hope you kick crud soon took me weeks.
Dennis Thanks for info on Visible. Good to hear you wife's phone is working again. Hope Chipotle was good.
Dftodd thanks for coyote story.
Dftodd about the same here on mowing height except mower does go to 4 inch.
Dennis good to hear ranger back operation. Had no run experience with 2 stoke motors with spark plugs that looked good, rarely with 4 strokes.
Thomas glad you survived busy day at work. Glad cubs decided to leave rather than incur further wrath of Mrs. Grilled cheeseburgers sound good.

Started cleanup of bird feeders. Birds are not happy that feeders are empty. Going to try and make today a Labor Free day.
Squirrels are already collecting for the coming winter.

good morning all
Welcome to September
52 out now going up to high 70s in continued dry weather

Mostly, really glad you found your wallet.
Ron, that's a big nut

I'm going to be an outlier on the lawn height issue. I like it short. Loved my golf course lawn in NC but that was Southern grass.
But here, cutting at 2.5 inches I have a lawn that is just an enormous patch of various weeds. Makes sense a longer cut means
more green material to plant and more plant energy. I just don't like the way it looks...
one thing is for sure, it will sure grow back and higher. Living next to woods, all kinds of invasive plants come creeping out.
Am trying not to use any weed killer; if I did I think I'd lose half the lawn.
Good thing I enjoy mowing grass since I've had to do it twice a week up until this dry spell.

I live in a community up on the banks of the Delaware River and all the chemicals from our lawns winds up sooner or later
down the hill into the River. Those chemicals and fertilizer create problems all the way down to the ocean, create algae issues in Chesapeake Bay,
just not a good thing. If land was flat with no runoff, I'd be less concerned. Some of you use an enormous amount of weed killer on your property.
As long as it stays put, makes sense.
Really don't want my personal legacy to be adding to the forever chemicals of the area and putting too much in local landfill.

which reminds me, need to get my 5 gallon waste oil can back from local garage. Will go get gas there and retrieve my can.
don't have as much use for it any more, so much has gone to cordless.
Think of all the motor oil saved on those nice EGO zero turns you guys are buying.

Good Morning from Central Texas,
At 5am, (weather station still down) have fog so temp/dew point the same. Nasty feeling out there.
Morning run to get mower gas and stop by the Legion for coffee if anyone else shows up. To me, just another Monday ! No where I want to go in this heat and crowds.
Hope all enjoy Labor Day.

Mostly, it is early for furnace startup. With overnights lows in the 40’s and high in the 60’s it takes about 4 days and temperatures in house are below 70°. At my age sitting in my Laz-Boy is no longer comfortable. Even with a heavy sweater and sweatpants on. Years ago I can remember not turning furnace on until November.
Yesterday I was able to open door to front porch and living room. It was 80° in there. Because sun is shining in. Front was designed as a Solar Room. But we do not get enough sun in winter to make it work properly. After opening door temperature in living room slowly raised to 75°. My favorite relaxing temperature.
