Ct, 55 to start going to 75 or so.
Need to clean my truck up this morning and then maybe go for a long walk.

Pool needs to have a bunch of dead leaves removed, so that will be on the agenda later. This time of year it gets kind of annoying to constantly clean leaves. If I even here about a storm coming I will close it

Seems strange that it’s September already and that it’s Tuesday morning on top of that. My German class starts again tonite at the Community Center from 6 to 7 and the the fire house drill after that, 7:30 to 9.

Some parts of the lawn need mowing but some sections are pretty well burned up and don’t need anything done. May wait a couple more days but I’m hearing some rain coming in by Friday.

Yesterday was extremely nice and I was too pooped to do anything. Almost takes as long to recover from company as it is to visit them for a couple of days
Spent most of it in the shop watching TV and relaxing.
Hopefully a bit more productive today although noting in particular on the agenda.

52° and sun streaming in the windows. High of 75 forecast.

Yesterday, spent the majority of the day in the shop moving stuff and putting records away. It’s about 1/3 completed.

RC planes are bigger than they might seem…

When that lost its charm for the day, we took the grandson out for ice cream,and then watched him catch some bass in the pond.

Today starts with the old guy sat the RC club. I have really enjoyed getting back into the hobby, especially the social aspect.

Not sure what’s after that.

Did some general cleanup then took wife to Home Depot to pick up some mums.
Grilled burgers and sat on the rear deck for dinner.
More watering and finally have enough figs to use the dehydrator, along with some apple and plum.

Son's first day of classes at college, will see what else the day brings.

Pontiac wagons & sedan deliveries were built on the basic Chevrolet body, and the tail lights for the Pontiac sedans won’t fit, so they fitted units that were slightly different from the Chevy lights.

This was likely built by National, they built quite a few Pontiac & Chevy hearses, ambulances & service cars, using a sedan delivery chassis & body that was lengthened.

Roof height depended on what the customer wanted. Most of the “high top” roofs were ambulances.

Good morning folks. Was in the upper 50's this am and will be getting warm here today at 77, then rain is moving in tonight and lasting for days. Got some of the "stuff" moved out of the trailer yesterday and will be putting some up for sale. Moved the cargo trailer to a parking spot. We've not camped at all this summer and hope we can now ....

I went to a local antique tractor/machinery show yesterday, about 10 miles north of me. They have it every labor day weekend (3 day show). Well attended and organized. Yesterday was their "plowing demo" day. The guys were running them hard, but the dirt looked perfect for working. Can't post the two videos I took, but here's some pics. The AC 190XT was pulling that 5 bottom with ease. The JD's were "putting" pretty good too. That steel wheeled one was a Hart-Parr - never seen that version.

Good Morning to All who Celebrate! Currently 68° heading to a high of 78° sunny and clear out here.

Weekend went well, a peaceful Saturday and Sunday, Mom is still hacking up a lung from the double whammy gifted to her by her grandson. When she laughs, she wheezes, I've been calling her Muttley and only getting some of the evil eye.

She'll head back to the doctors today (She better, or I'll keep calling her Muttley) and get something stronger to help her kick it for good.
Saturday I fueled and greased the tractor, tore out the last bit of mile a minute weed.
On Sunday night, went with Dad out to dinner with his childhood friends, always good to see them. They're talking now about trying to organize some Pike fishing in the Upper Midwest in the coming spring.

Monday, I was intending to do as little as possible apart from laundry, except Dad found this while walking the dog:

Something about those Virginia Pines that we have. They always seem to sprout one giant branch as low to the ground as they can. Then it cracks off under its own weight or when it gets snow-covered and we have to clean it up...Farm Boss did the majority of the heavy lifting on this one, only needed to awaken The Beast (500i) for the final cut and then the stupid branch pinched my bar and bent it a little. Fortunately it seems like those flex a little, as it was able to run no problem and looks straight enough to me. Grapple put everything neatly away.

Certainly opened up the trail and a lot more light will come through now.

Other than that, I did have a peaceful Labor Day. Mom made spareribs for dinner.

Work was busy this morning, everyone always puts off issues before the holiday weekend so they don't have to deal with them until later. Suddenly, Later arrives.

Goals are mainly to get through this week and spread the remaining tanbark before the forecasted rain on Thursday, we need it bad.

Slept in today. woke a couple times in the night, but able to get back to sleep. Did look out the window at 3AM to see if I could catch northern lights, but didn't see any.
I might have one shelf worth of albums as Popgadget has. I still have a big oak TV/stereo cabinet sitting in our family room. The newer TV sits beside it, as way to big to fit in the old spaces for a 19" tv. remember when those were big? That space is occupied by 2 security camera DVR's, and a monitor for them. A tape drawer on the bottom is filled with cassette tapes, and the VCR drawer on the right has a mix of VCR tapes and some CD's.
Was surprised how busy home depot was yesterday morning. The trex must have been on sale, was a couple dollars less than I remember. I seem to recall they had a sale on it for another holiday, and I had already gotten some and didn't need any more at the time.
Was nice to have friends over and use the new deck.
I got up so late today, my son was already gone, and wife had gone out to walk with a friend. She got home as I was eating breakfast at 10:30.
Have a return to make to amazon, another set of injectors that arrived after I got the ranger running with new plugs. I also have oil to take to recycling, I still probably have over a dozen gallons at the shed, and 5 gallons in the garage that is recent changes.

lot of weight on those pine limbs. I cut one recently, it snapped as I was about half way thru, and it threw the chain off my chainsaw.

know where that old shell station is, think I got a pic the last time I went by, but I usually bypass the town with a shortcut.

Local lore here has it that the first rain follows the first tarantula sighting by a month. In a normal year we start to see them mid September to mid-October, and yes, it usually does rain almost a month later. We get a smile over how accurate the tarantulas are. It is uncanny. We feel sorry about seeing the tarantula males out hunting for a first and last date, but they are such pretty, gentle giants, and big enough to be seen while driving, so easy to avoid.

Most years, we are green from Turkey day to Tax day, so it is usually dry here from Tax day to October or November.

So, this year, we saw the first tarantula August second. That was a subject for discussion, as we had never seen one out and about in August before. So, today is a month later, and "Bang!", this morning at two am the heavens opened with hail, followed some rain and by a lightning storm around four am that ignited a slew of fires in the Central Valley and Sierras.

The late posted weather forecast yesterday was for a 20% chance of precipitation, but until late yesterday the forecast was 86F and dry.

It leaves me wondering how the tarantulas seem to know...

71°F and no rain

Some how managed to lose a charge controller from my solar, electric yesterday but mystery as to why.

Noticed 2 CC not listed in the app, so investigated, found a tripped circuit breaker, no apparent reason. Reset it and a bit of flash at the VC and released the magic smoke. Only 2 circuits involved, battery and PV. Removed bad CC but no way to examine other than that special smell.
Have a spare. Ready to install, but want to visually check everything 1 more time before installing and powering up.

HH was a nice gathering as usual.

my sister and husband are here visiting from Muir Beach, thankfully weather not too hot.
Temps at her home very cool, never seems to get hot near the water.
I'm sure downtown Oakland might be warmer...

never did get outside, I have a degree in distraction but
at least I got my rv trip booked.
got super lucky, though technically they can bump me because I absolutely refuse to pay
another 50 bucks to guarantee the spot they gave me. Which is the most primo pull through right next to the beach
and looking up at the Apache pier in Myrtle Beach. My friends have a condo 1/4 mile away

thought this over a bit and since this might be my last rv trip, might as well not rush it. So staying three nights each at several spots, including my old home in Washington NC, where I get to see my old friends again.
At the rate I'm going my mobility is getting iffier so better do this.

not going to book the return campgrounds until I get down there.
if someone buys the rv I have to cancel all this and if there is a hurricane I sure am not heading South.
Otherwise looks like I'll get on the road again one more time.

I need to get on my mower first.
