Had to google, Alien Nation was the sour milk, took a wrong turn in the foggy memory banks.

I recall seeing that movie, and liking it. Another old movie that both Sharn Jean and I liked was "Picnic", starring William Holden and Kim Novak. The setting, I believe was Hutchinson Kansas, a small town not unlike where I grew up.

Sorry if I've posted this before (I seem to do that a lot any more), if so, here it is again!

Remade later as The Money Pit with Tom Hanks and Shelly Long

Also, sort of followed in some ways by Funny Farm with Chevy Chase and Madolyn Smith.

That was a good movie. Saw it many years ago also; whoever wrote the story had been there. As I've said before, there are several things a man out to do in his life...throw a paper route, clerk in a grocery store and build a new home.

Hey... I've done all three. I would also add a few more... Bale hay, shovel manure of any kind, change a diaper, and apologize to wifey for being born a man...

YouTube I am David (2004) that I saw for the first time this week deals with a difficult subject (post WW2 conditions) but with a positive ending. I watched the last 5 minutes 5+ times and finally stopped crying over the touching ending.

I considered starting a separate thread just for "characters" (actors and their rolls) that were/are special...but here are a few that come to mind:

Bill Murray as Carl Spackler (Caddyshack)

Micheal Keaton as Beetlejuice (Beetlejuice)

Javier Bardem as Anton Chigurh (No Country for Old Men)

Peter Lorre as Mr. Moto (all titles)

I would not call any of his roles special (in any way) but some of Arnold's one liners crack me up...!
