Last week a local truck driver brings a 53' box trailer up our 1.5 mile dead end road that has no place to turn around and several tight turns. He looked like he was ready to cry after surveying the situation. After about an 30 minute I told him I could hook to his trailer with the 6245 4x4 Zetor and pull his trailer around as he manuevered the truck. He didn't think that the tractor would do it but reluctantly agreed. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif After about 1 hr and 30 minutes he was headed the other direction. He offered 20 dollars to cover my fuel but I declined and told him to pass the favor along some the and watch for the road signs that say DEAD END. This has happened before but never to nothing over a 45' trailer. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Any particular reason he didn't back out? Seems like it wouldn't have taken that long.

In any case, it always feels good to help someone out and even better to be able to decline compensation and tell them to pass it on.

The way the turns are it would have been near impossible to back out. I helped another driver do it years ago but it took well over 2 hours and he only had a 40' flat bed not a box van like this fellow.

Sounds like you need some kind of novel sign at the entrance. You know, like those signs that warn people at national parks, "This buffalo can run a mile in 9.8 seconds, can you?" Perhaps yours can say, "Don't even think about entering with a truck unless you can turn around in 30 feet or plan to donate the truck to the guy that lives at the end.

You would think that DEAD END would be enough but maybe we need to add pictures also.

I wish "Dead End" signs were enough but they aren't. Got home from work yesterday and saw our split rail fence backed over...again. Not to mention our flag pole and the lamp post at the end of our side walk. I stopped counting long ago but people keep coming down a marked dead end road and knocking our things down as they try and turn around. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
