Well I went to the auction I bid up to $900 and then the guy bid $1,000 and I walked away to avoid temptation. It went for the $1000 he bid.

It was **** cold outside with the temp standing at 4 degrees and a wind chill of -5 :(

I'll keep my eye out for another used one but if not may have to buy new.
My new KK was $1100 and has a warranty. No way would I go to a cold 4 degree auction to save a lousy 100 bucks on an unwarranted one.;)

:p With the weather so rough I thought I might get it pretty cheap. But no such luck.

I'll most likely end up with a new KK in the spring.

You will not be sorry with your choice, but if your decision is made, then I start calling around all TSCs in your area to see if they have one or two left. You'll be able to get a bargain as this ain't exactly the time that business is brisk... it is freeze raining in KC as of now.... Brrrrr perfect time for implement shopping:D

North Dakota,

I think you were very wise walking away from that one. You gave it a shot, and if that other guy wasn't there, you might just have gotten a good deal, but, that's how it goes.

I would do like JCJetro is saying, right now a TSC store mgr. might be willing to let a KK go for a little less, just to clear his inventory. he knows it'll sit till spring.

offer him $1000 and see what he says.

1*I don't think he got much of a deal for 1000 used compared to new for 1100
** or maybe even 1000 as you suggest.

Considering a brand new woods tiller of same model is $2000 I think it was a good deal if you wanted a woods tiller. This one at the auction either had new woods tines installed or was hardly used.

With that being said I agree that a KK model new (in fact the KK is larger by 9 inches) is a better deal as I will not be using it like a professional landscaper and should last me as long as I want it to. But I thought if I could save close to $300 it would of been worth it.

I wish my local dealer had a KK on hand and could try to get a reduced price but he doesn't. Oh well I'll just have to wait.

Thanks for all the help guys

I am shopping for a tiller and searching for information. I am wondering why MessickFarmEqu has backed up this statement when asked.

You bring up a good point. I dont know how long KK has been in buisness, but I'm guessing they will still be around for many years. And after reading many posts here on TBN about the abuse the KK tillers will take I wouldn't worry about having to get one fixed.

I've rebuilt a couple of grey market rice tillers , that had the tines all knocked off. I pay a little over scrape price. I made a new shaft with flanges and used KK tines. The tines are reasonably priced about $5 apiece. The rice tillers are chain drive but seem to hold up okay. I strip off all the old pulling attaching mounts and start fresh with 1/2" plate reinforcement and new pulling lugs. It's a lotta work, but is something I do over the winter. The end result is a heavy durable tiller. If you don't have time and tools for this then new is a good way to go. CCM has some good tilllers and I've looked at the ones Agri-Supply sells, but freight cost is always a bugger there. I've been to auctions and the small 3 pt attachments sell as if they are gold plated, at least around here. bjr
