Good work gloves anyone ?

Robert,

I know just what you mean. I need XXL or even XXXL gloves and they are tough to find. I got a pair of XXL leather work gloves with long cuffs at TSC two or three years ago that I really like but they're starting to come apart now. Of course, when I went back to buy another pair no one recognized them as anything they handled. Finally, the manager came and thought she did and found them in an old catalog and made some calls for me.

Then came the bad news; TSC no longer handled that brand and had gone to a different supplier for gloves. Then the worse news; None of the current line comes in XXL. The worst news came last; The company that made the gloves I liked was no longer TSC's supplier because they had gone out of business. I couldn't even try to track down another retailer or go direct to the manufacturer.

So, if anyone knows where I can find some leather work gloves with long cuffs in XXL or XXXL, PLEASE let me know. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I have had a hard to impossible time finding gloves that are made anywhere but China. Same with shoes and boots. Went to a factory outlet store to look for shoes and work boots. Everything they had was made in China.

If China shut down thier exports to the US, it would shut down the US! We're part of a global economy, but we are WAY out of balance for import vs export.

Gary:

Have you tried a welding supplies store. The welding golves all have long cuffs. Some may be too light in the hand area as they are for specific kinds of welding.

Work gloves in general.

They all wear out. Handling concrete products, stones etc. it happens quickly. In other cases they get contaminated with oil or other materials that are not good for your health.

For the quick wearout, dirty jobs etc. get cheap gloves and chuck them. But keep a nice comfortable pair for doing those jobs that are not damge intensive. Switch back and forth when doing different jobs.

Ive got at least five pairs in use at any one time depending on what I'm doing.

Are those the one that change size if you rub your hands together?

I like my Wells Lamont cowhide gloves (see picture attached), which I purchased at Costco. Got 3 pairs for under $20.

As I mentioned, and Gary followed up, wearing them out is one thing. Finding one that fits is an entire different story.

All the cheap gloves I see barely fit my 9 year old son, much less me. Seems XL size is what large was years back or something...

Seems we be on opposite ends of the spectrum. I've got trouble finding ones that are small enough.

I have a supplier that sells leather gloves 12 pairs for 12 bucks. Yep, they are terrible but I buy em. If I lose a pair, who cares? If I wear a hole, so what? The fabric on the backs is pretty thin, but it does get WARM around here, so they're cooler. I've paid $8 for work gloves that aren't as good as these, though.
