Kioti DK 5810 HST
BX2370 has been a loyal and trustworthy friend but unfortunately has become somewhat unsuitable for the future, we have sold our property and committed to a new home with a bigger parcel of land, we plan on producing our own hay which will be in round bales which is beyond the scope of the BX.
We looked at a number of tractors and settled on a Kioti DK5810 HST, they are offering special deals on the 4810 and 5810 and at AU$2k difference I opted for the bigger HP unit, what sweetened the deal was a AU$20k trade in on the BX which is $5 more than we paid for it 3 years ago, I realise that they gerry the figures but at a AU$24k changeover with hay spikes and 4 in 1 bucket I found it too good to resist.
At the moment we are awaiting delivery which hopefully will be this week, our place settles in December and we move out in March but we still have horses to feed and a lot of round bales to move around.
The 4 year warranty was appealing and I( found the Kioti so very similar to the Kubota in so many ways, just a few little differences to get used to such as two pedal HST rather than the rocker but I'm sure it won't take long to adapt.
I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve!

Ir sounds like you're trading one old friend for a new one. :D Hopefully your new Kioti will be as "trustworthy" as your old BX, and good luck with your new venture. Most people downsize when they retire... ;)

Plenty to do like build a new arena, more water tanks, lay pipes for troughs etc etc and the thought of moving into suburbia/neighbours is most unappealing to both of us, I'm not crippled yet and despite having retired still find myself going in and helping out more often than I did when I worked permanently.
Nearest regional centre is 17km away or about 15 minutes, closest neighbour about 2km, on 38 acres with a 4br house and a bit of shedding, will probably add some more for storage and workshop.

Great news! And all you have learned can be transformed into a better situation on your new property.

Sounds like you all have some serious plans. Hope the new orange treats you as well as the old orange.

Good luck.

I'm just curious, what made you decide against keeping the BX and the new tractor.

My bigger tractor is more critical, but the BX sure is handy.

What I was thinking. You might miss your BX more than you are figuring. Of course there is the cash issue but since it is holding its value maybe a wait and see approach before saying goodbye. Unless it is a done deal. Congratulations either way.

WE THOUGHT LONG AND hard about keeping but the added cost of insurance and storage comes into play, the kioti is not that big and should be able to do the same tasks, just will need to create some bigger spaces for it to get through, next compromise will be getting rid of the ute and SUV and buying a comfortable ute with a 3.5 t towing capacity, looking but not in a rush just yet.

congratulations bunyip. I hope everything goes smoothly with your BIG move.
As for the Ute. You might have to get a RAM!

Never, thinking of a Ranger or BT50, don't want a Nissan ever again and Hilux is too many $$$$, Amarok is too much to service (why???) and Triton are now in bed with Nissan and Renault andcould be going the way of the dodo, nothing Chinese, haven't seen anything reliable that they turn out.
The Ranger is my preference with the electric steering rather than hydraulic and I believe the suspension is a bit softer, not after basic but don't want top of the line either, something around the $50k mark that is rated at 3.5t towing.
And the new place is about 150km away so it's going to be a couple of decent loads to get 20 years of acquired junk down there but thinking of selling my stationary machinery as I haven't used it for a while and it is heavy, tablesaw, bandsaws, spindle moulder, routers, jointer, thicknesser, drill presses, lathe etc etc etc.

I didn't see Colorado mentioned but Ranger seems a good choice. My daughter has one and really likes it.
As for Amarok, my stepson bought one new and it kept breaking down just after they bought it. Put me off them.

I would not even consider GM after what they have done, promised 10 years back up on parts and service then pulled the pin and cut it back to 5 years, I did look at the Colorado and the big SUV (the name eludes me for the moment but also had a 3.5t towing), my brother bought the Z71 just before they cut back to 5 years, he likes it but is not happy with the way they have treated him and other buyers.
Speaking of GM, the proving ground just down the road from us is up for sale, $50m if you want a prime piece of real estate complete with roads of all descriptions, plenty of shedding too and fully fenced.
