We all have our breaking point. Turns out mine was around $2.50/gallon. That's when I started carpooling. With gas around $3/gallon and an 85 mile/day commute, I figure I'm saving about $75/month by carpooling, just in gas. That doesn't include tires, oil changes, etc., etc., etc. I drive a '99 lumina and get around 30 mpg. I gave up driving my truck to work a loooong time ago. Now it's strictly a 'farm' truck.
I've never been confused for a treehugger, but it sure makes me feel good to know that I'm doing my own little part to reduce our dependence on foreign oil. If we didn't need all this oil do you think there's any chance we'd be sending our boys over to Iraq to die? If we could supply our own oil needs the whole middle east would be left to rot.
