Goof up on flail mower?

I just aquired a Mott 88 finish mower myself. Mine had the cheap finish blades. Called Flail Master and got a set of the H.D. finish blades for around $350 Thats 108 nuts, bolts and D-rings, 216 clips and knives. Very happy with the results. I have my top link adjusted so the knives are about 8 inches off the ground with the roller riding the ground.

It took about 3 hours and a 6 pack (water) to do.

Iron Horse, those are great looking knives, even heavier duty that the ones on my ditchmower!!! Wish I had a set of them, but probably wouldn't want to pay what it would take to own them, lol.

How large a flail are you using, and how much HP are you pushing through the PTO?

sandman , they cost $27 AU each and there are 22 on the rotor .

BigBri , they have to at times , I see some rough country sometimes . I use this flail for Fire Trail slashing one day and 1/4 acre town blocks the next . A more versatile machine I have never seen .

J_J , the TL100A NH I tow it with has 100 engine horsepower and around 86 hp at the PTO . The 1000 rpm PTO position is used on ALL my mowing/mulching jobs with the engine turning @ 1400 rpm . The engine has a 45% torque rise and I would recommend one of these tractors to anyone , it is simply awesome .

I was just curious, because of the size of that flail knife. I now understand why. It is a big un, and you have the HP to get the job done. Thanks.
