Gooseneck hitch on a flatbed dump body

That would be great toxic. I would like to get one made for a full size chassis, from a supplier. If not I have a good weld shop/fabricator local to me. That could modify the flat bed. I am looking for a 12 footer:D
When you say a full size chassis are you talking about a 1-ton dually or something bigger like a 450/550/4500/5500 or even larger? The reason I ask is because you are wanting a 12 foot body. Notice that powerstroke444e is saying he has to shorten his F450 down to an 8.5 foot body.

Most 1 ton dually's and 450's you see running around with 12ft flatbeds have too much overhang behind the axle to mount a gooseneck properly unless you do something like powerstroke444e said and lop off some of the body and frame, in effect using a long wheelbase truck for a short body. You want the hitch at or slightly in front of the rear axle and your current GN trailer probably doesn't have enough reach to work on the typical 12 foot flatbed installation.

Here are a few pics of my setup. First the bed with a pop out hatch. I really need to clean this thing up sometime.

The hitch is a Buyers brand. Max Trailer gross weight 25 000 lbs, 5 000 lbs max tongue weight. Put it on when I built the dump bed, Didn't really need it at the time but i figured better to have it and not need it than wished I did. Have used it a couple of times and it worked great.

A picture is worth a thousand words. Thanks for the pics, it answers the question about having a 12 foot bed. It doesn't look that hard to do, but since I wont be doing the install, I better reserve judgment. Does anyone know if there is a premade unit that can be bought?

Ya buy some metal and the hitch build it take it off and paint it and its premade.:D At least thats how we do premade around here.

Toxic good looking build, I like the cylinder set up that allows you to use the mid fuel tank. I am useing a extra frame on top of the truck frame to add a little more strenght as I 4 times more hydraulic power than truck chassi.

Thanks. When I built it I was a little concerned that the cylinder wouldn't have enough push because it is running almost parallel with the frame when the bed is down. But I have had that truck ridiculously overloaded and it's never refused to dump a load.

nice thing about hyds. oil don't compress.. once that rod starts wanting to get longer, it's between the relief valve and a bed that can start tilting up.. looks like the relief won1 :)

I never thought of it that way, I think I'll buy some metal and paint, and build the truck while I'm at it:). In all seriousness,I like to stick with what I can do well (run a train,) and let the pros Build the dump bodies. again, if anyone hears of one, let me know.

Do you have to remove the side boards when you hook up trailer? I'm buying a GMC 4x4 dually Dmax and it is a chassis. My plan was a dumping platform with low profile tool boxes on sides and hitch mounted to frame over axle. Can't decide how high boxes can be without damage if I tow my a 15K trailer fully loaded. That's my M-7040 and my attachments, fuel cell, etc.
They make a really cool "western" style utility bed with boxes, but it doesn't dump. I really don't have to have the dump, but it makes the truck more versatile & easier to unload.
