I guess I never thought about it.
I will see if that can work.

I've used a cordless drill to power the landing gear on my 5th. wheel for years. I just welded a large nut on the shaft where the crank goes. It's also at least twice as fast as factory powered landing gear. Make sure to have a suitable wrench available in case the drill quits.

Is that on a 2 speed jack, single or dual? Trailer loaded or unloaded? You just pulled the handle off and welded a nut there? Isnt it just a round shaft with a ~ 1/4 hole? Hmmm, my horse trailer has hydraulic jacks but the dump and equipment don’t....This maybe a simple enough mod to keep a drill motor in the truck with an adapter.

It's a 25ft fifth wheel and it doesn't seem to matter about loaded or not. It's the standard hand operated landing gear, the same as most trailers, only one speed. The hand crank has an off-set of about a foot from the main shaft. I would expect it to work on any hand crank.

You took the hand crank off and welded a nut to the straight shaft, right?

Mine is something like this but single speed images.jpeg

Yes, the hand crank comes off (it's not permanently attached like the one in the picture) and I welded a nut on the end of the shaft. I can post a picture if anyone wants it, but I'm out all day tomorrow and quite busy until Sunday. The landing gear is slightly different than the picture as it's a 5th wheel RV. I haven't bothered doing the same thing on my equipment trailer as I don't use it very often and don't find the hand crank a hassle.
