I've seen that a few times and I think it's illegal to do. We met a real nice family at at Whispering Pines Campsite in Inglis, Fl and he had a gooseneck and said it was legal behind a GN only? he drove down from Illinois .

In Michigan it is legal if you have a CDL with T endorsement or a special RV double licsense.

Thanks Paul, I wonder how many people will put a hitch in the 2" receiver to pull another trailer behind it ? see picture

Jimi, Paul- That picture looks like what CornPro calls the Center Lift dovetail.
I think the crank jack is only an option on the adjustable dovetail, where the entire full width tail goes up and down. Also they call it adjustable but then say it is 2-position, so I guess it can only be flat or one angle and the jack is to allow you to change from one to the other??

Looks like a ball hitch also near the receiver, but it's hard to tell in the photo. I guess the full-width adjustable would have the receiver option as well but they don't show a rear view. The center-lift looks like a good option if you wanted to be able to have a perfectly flat deck with the tail raised level and no ramps standing up in the back so as to be able to load overhanging material.

This is NOT going to be a cheap trailer and I'd like to buy it right the first time!

As a trailer builder, i tell you that you're one of my favorite types of customers: Our experience is that the customer that wants the cheapest option even though you advised them otherwise, will come back within a year or 2 and ask you why you sold them this crap. Then they wont remember that you advised them to get heavy duty axles anyhow but they just insisted on going cheep...
We dont want that, so if a customer really wants the cheapest option, we tell him to buy it elsewhere ;)

We chose to standardise on a 5.5 ton heavy duty air brake, air suspension axle. It is used with an ultra low 4 ton Firestone AiRide kit and 16" duals as a tandem, under equipment trailers, or with the standard 5.5 ton air suspension and 17.5" duals under single axle flatdecks and plywood box trailers.
Because we standardise on the 5.5 ton axle, we buy thm in bulk and can get discounts which means that we can offer heavy duty, for the price that others offer standard :)

about the landing gear, all of our trailers come with a Jost 12 ton, 2 speed landing gear. I could not imagine selling anyone a 5th wheel trailer with just 1 support leg, or even a 1 speed landing gear.

Here in Indiana we double pull all the time. I tow my big boat, 15,600# empty and my jet ski, about 1,200# all the time to Tennessee. My neighbor does just as the guy in the pic with a camper and a bass boat and the guy down the road takes his camper and a tandem axle car hauler with quads and golf carts on it. In Indiana you do not need a CDL until you are over 26,000#. Does this mean every one should do it, no. But some of us with some smarts and the truck to pull it safely and good trailers with breaks and lights that are operational can do it just fine. I will say you must plan your stops for food and fuel a little more wisely.

Nice trailer! As far as doubles goes... you could put the hitch in and pull another trailer so long as it is not over 26' long. I do not know how they do the boat/jet ski combo, as I would have to get out my big book, but generally speaking the trailer hooked to the power unit must attached as gooseneck or fifth wheel. Both trailer are limited in length as well, so I am not sure how people pull these 36' campers & boats. There must me special laws for recreational vehicles that I am not familiar with.

I checked with the dmv when I started doing double pulls and they said for a private party the 5th wheel/goose neck law did not apply. They said that the only rule that applied was the 65' total length, 26,000#, and the brake rule on anything over 3,000# rules. Of course the truck, hitch, lights, and all safety gear has to be up to the job.

As far a putting the jetski behind my boat I made a custom hitch for the boat trailer. It is a clamp on design made out of 1/2" plate steel that sandwiches the back of the boat trailer with 2 plates and 4 grade 5 1/2" bolts so there was no welding. It has a standard 2" receiver tube and I made a custom 5' long draw bar that utilizes 1/4" cable and turnbuckles going up to the boats transom tie down rings to relive some of the pressure. I also made up some 6' long safety chains out of 1/4" cable to run from the jetski trailer to the boat trailer. It has been towed this way about 4,000 miles with no issues. I don't have a pic but here is a pic's of the boat to give you some idea. You can also see the tail end of my 2006 f-350 6.0L diesel 4x4.

Guess I need to call my buddy and see if he ordered the trailer or forgot?? Its been a while now, not that I need it right now during my slower time of year.

The final order was 22' + 5' with the adjustable (two position) dovetail, chain box cover, dovetail jack, stand up ramp option, and second drop leg jack. I did not order the two speed jacks because it was an expensive option and I don't drop and hook this thing 5 times a day. They are a drop leg so they crank pretty quick if you only need to raise the trailer less than a foot or so.

A few had asked about price and I'm not giving out that information because I buy at wholesale. I'm not in the trailer business as far as stocking them but I do usually sell 3 or 4 a year to folks buying tractors from me and this dealer really treats me good. Lets just say I sell them for slightly less that he retails them for and I can make a very small profit but it's usually about the package deal. He treats me really good with implements so I like to do business there when I can.

This one is for me though and will be a keeper!

Just got a call today that it is in so I'll be picking it up in the AM. Not bad timing because the roads are dry now.

If I had a clue how to take and post pictures, I would!
