For the tires I went with a 235/85 16 14 ply. Hopefully these won't come apartike the 12 plies. The wheels are PYOs from a 2000 era Chevy/GMC pickup. I sandblasted them and then painted the wheels using a silver appliance epoxy. I really like the long lug nuts; they help conceal the hub.

Is it ready for the shakedown trip yet?

Missed if you mentioned having a winch for pulling on equipment with the 3 receivers mounted like that.

You've added some thoughtful features...there's never enough light!

Took it for a shake down yesterday. About a 20 mile dead head trip and no issues at all. Need to retorq the wheels and then I have my first load this weekend.

I have a 12k warn winch that I built a receiver mount for. I didn't want to permanently mount the winch because it wouldn't get used enough.

Rebuilt the transition plate at the beaver. The original one was much thinner and something had hooked it causing the plate to bend out of shape. This one is now bolted to every board plus the four rails.

Got the electric finished up. New LED mini marker lights. I put three lights on the fender so I could better see it when turning. I added a solar panel to always keep the battery charged. I also used junction boxes for the wire connections. The lights are two fold. The smaller ones are wired to the back up circuit. The larger ones are wired to the constant power circuit. This light is to help with night loading. I added a switch inside the tool box to control them.

Does that solar panel/charger have/need a controller?

You did a great job on your trailer. (y)

If the panel is small enough a controller is not needed. It's only when the panels have enough capacity to over charge the batteries that a controller is required. This one is only maintaining the batteries current charge so it'll be OK.

Finished product. For where the project started, I couldn't be happier with the results

That's a lot of hard work. You should feel good about the accomplishment.

Load test today! Picked up my heaviest load ever. 12 8x16x32' creosote soaked timbers from a railroad trestle. Each one weighs about 1,200 lbs. Trailer handled the load real nice. Didn't want to sway or get squirmy on the bridge approaches. Definitely could tell I had 21,000 behind me, but it felt like the truck could handle more.
