Gooseneck v. Bumper trailer for me?

Can you name one?

IMO opinion the rules are not that confusing if they have been read and accepted. It seems to me that they are most confusing to people that have not read them and/or are trying to bend them so that they are not included by them.

That is true for the most part except for the "once you break 26K in combination, you need a CDL" part. Breaking the 26k threshold is only half the equation. 20k trailer + 7k truck = CDL. 20k truck + 7k trailer = No CDL.

Duffster, your right on the above counts, I stand corrected. However, I know people who have been ticketed for having a trailer over 10K, right or wrong, it happens.

Diamondpilot made a good and also very true statement. This is not directed to bash law enforcement officers either. Much of the laws are often somewhat of an interpretation. In almost every case here in Illinois state troopers are by far the most knowledgeable when it comes to DOT issues. County and even more so local law enforcement persons are far less informed. .

That's actually fairly true and I say that after being a police officer (detective) for over 15 years. The biggest difference between state/DOT officers is that in many states concentrate most if not all of their efforts on traffic and do very little criminal enforcement. In those states the troopers/DOT officers know the laws very well. The problem is there are also a few over aggressive guys that want to be doing something and trust me there are laws on the books in nearly every state that 90% of drivers are violating. There are also those that only do traffic just looking to be a jerk because of some deep seated psychological issue and they are well known and generally not respected by their peers. No sense beating around the bush there are not many out there but they are there. In other words be on the safe side and stay well below your weight ratings, it's safer and easier for everyone.

I've done my fair share of pulling including large and small boats, 32 foot horse trailer loaded and a flat bed goose neck and I'm telling you that pulling the M59 with the tundra is unsafe and dumb. I've yet to see a tundra with a gn hitch but it wouldn't surrise me to see someone try it. I think a 20 ft 10k trailer pulling a the Kubota is too much for the truck too but I follow the rule of of better safe than sorry. After seeing a few trailer wrecks cause by vehicles pulling more than they should I learned it's just not worth it.

"pulling an m59 with a tundra is unsafe and dumb"

yeah, you guys have pretty much convinced me of that. So the gooseneck is out (it also seems more likely to get me into discussions with LEOs revolving around whether I'm private or not. I am, but I'd rather avoid the discussion in the first place).

So the current thought is a 14k bumperpull that could move the m59 with the appropriate truck if I get it, use it for the b3030 and other stuff in the meantime.
