Hi again guys,

I got quote # 3 from yet another dealer, as mentioned in an earlier post, one that my Mom worked at for 20 years. I won't break it down this time, but bottomline was $16,500 plus tax.

Looks like I'm not going to get a decent discount here in easternmost New York State. The dealers for the most part are all in the same ballpark. My first quote, I believe if without trade in would be close to this last quote.

I guess it depends on what section of the country you are in.

I noticed Mutton Equip. in Indiana advertising a 2010 2305 with FEL and 62" mower for $13,399. Add a 54" quick hitch angle blade even at MSRP it still is only 14,697. Even having it shipped 700 miles it would seem to be cheaper.

Anyways, I'll keep plugging with quotes and reporting back:)

Not sure what sales tax is in NY, but since you wouldn't have to pay sales tax to the IN dealer, you could pay a good portion of the shipping with that savings.

Is this a fact?
I thought only if it's for farm use,it's tax exempt. Even if he didn't have to pay IN. sales tax,I'm pretty sure he would have to pay his NY sales tax. I could be full of it too:)

Well I can't say for sure but I thought the rules were that if you had a tractor shipped to you, you would not have to pay sales tax in the state you purchased if from. Now technically I'm sure you're supposed to somehow pay your home state sales tax. However, like all other internet purchases I don't think most people volunteer to pay those taxes. I think that unless you have to register the tractor there'd be no real way for the state to collect.

Then again, I'm not a tax expert either, just going by what I've gleened from other deals and bids.

By the way Greg don't you have tractor yet? I thought you were taking delivery this week? Not slacking on getting pics posted are ya? :)

I just ordered a 2305 loader and mower no trade 13500. you would be better buying no trade and give yours to somebody and write it of to charity.

The second quote I posted in this thread was from a dealer in Mass. and I would have not had to pay tax on the purchase according to that dealer.

Good point though on on using saved tax towards shipping on a better priced machine.

On the tax question, when you buy something from an out of state dealer and have it shipped to your home state, you do not normally pay either the sales tax of the dealer's state or your state. This is because the transaction is considered interstate commerce. States may only tax commerce taking place within their own boarders. Your home state has no authority to compel the dealer to collect sales tax and remit it to your home state so long as that dealer has no place of business in your state or even comes there to perform service on your tractor. This is called nexus, or lack of nexus.

However, in every state the buyer is suppose to declare the purchase and pay a use tax (same rate as the sales tax, just a different name). But, like was mentioned above, this is generally voluntary as your state does not have an easy way to be made aware of the purchase unless it is something that has to be registered, like a car for example.

One exception to the sales tax issue that I"m aware of is when the two states in question (the dealer's state and your home state) have an agreement to impose each other's tax on out of state sales to the other state. In this case, the state the dealer is in can impose a requirement to collect and remit the tax to the customer's state. Fun stuff

RSica, I'm coming late to the discussion, but I can tell you that loaded tires don't have enough weight to keep the back end down on a 2305 with a 200CX loader on the front. I have a 48" box blade and 5 suitcase weights hanging on it. With a heavy load I can still lift a rear tire. If I mount the loader before the box blade the rear of the tractor with loaded tires gets airborne without much trouble. Make sure you have your 4x4 engaged so you can still maintain some control if you want to test this yourself.

When looking between the 2320 and 2305 I got the price at 13,900 with a 200cx loader and 5 foot scape for 2305
