Yep, summer is getting long in the tooth. Today was the first day I put on something over my long sleeve shirt. Hi was 63* and mostly sunny but with a stiff NW breeze all day.

First frost can't be far away.
Dave.

Woh, I got a chill. Planting the fall garden today in 101 degrees temp just doesn't seem right. Thanks for the whiff of cool air.

I so look for the days that I'm not wet all day long.....

I was Sweating like crazy today washing windows at my parents, thinking it couldn't get much hotter than this in September, when I looked into my their field and asked my Dad how many brush piles was he burning. He said one, I said jump in the truck lets get out to the field there is smoke coming up from several places. being very familiar with fire I figured we could handle this before the VFD could arrive. 30 minutes latter I had to arrived at a new level of September heat. After the fire was out I thought that my dad could have titled this thread.:D

Had a close encounter with Jack Frost last night. My thermometer registered 36* for the overnight low. I see a couple vines on my cherry tomato plants turned purple.

It was clear as a bell and dead calm the whole night. Had a small meteor shower going on in the lower southern sky.

No fires yet. If we get reasonable sunshine we don't need the fireplace until early November usually.
Dave.

you musta hit it lucky.I remember a period in the early 70s or latter 60s a few weeks it stayed well below zero for weeks with lows around minus 40s at night.Look up Embarras,Mn. on the web just for kicksDave

Crusty, I remember a year that was 30 to 40 days before it reached above 0. I lived at the time south of twin city area. I am thinking it was 1973.
