OK guys....show and tell time...I put 2 layers of aluminum flashing on and used lots and lots of roof cement between both them and the chimney bricks. You cannot see it, but the upper flashing is embedded in a groove and I drilled and installed two masonry screws to secure the aluminum flashing. Danno1 suggested I install a diverter, rather than install one on the lower roof and remove more shingles than I did, I realized much of the water dripping onto the lower roof came from the upper roof, it either ran behind the gutter or splashed over. I installed an extended roof dripedge and a PVC "L" as shown in one picture to the upper gutter, and now none of the water from that roof splashes onto the lower one. NONE. I added a lot of aluminum flashing in the corner where the sheathing meets the bricks, redid most of the siding in that area to make it a tighter fit, and used a lot of roof cement under the sloped J-channel to absolutely prevent ANY water at all touching the sheathing. This afternoon, I put a garden hose on the upper and lower roofs for ten minutes, actually TRYING to work the water under the shingles and siding, but not a drop entered the house....THANKS TO ALL !!
