Got any good fishing stories to share?

My wife and I went out yesterday to our local lake, she wanted to go fishing for mothers day and I wasn't complaining:laughing:

Got there at 5am to catch bait (shad) and we where fishing by 6am. Started 1st drift and as soon as the bait got down the catching was on, 1st one she caught was a 22" Hybrid striper, then it was Sand Bass till the bait was gone. There where times she had one rod with a fish on and she had her foot on the pole as she reeled in another fish. Had 4 poles out and went to only two since I couldn't keep them all baited fast enough (usually done have that problem by my self) She had a great day, for which I am happy

caught the white bass run last year at Bull Shoals lake. There were about 40-50 fisherman in the short creek arm I was at. I got 6 I think and one nice green sunfish, stepson got 4.

back about 1994 my brother and I used to go up to Huron River, fished the mouth at the pier into Lake Erie for Walleye. there were shoulder to shoulder of fishermen when we got there maybe 3 fish on the long very long walk out to the lighthouse. Light north wind was blowing and maybe 3' waves coming in. Guys all around were complaining no fish tonight. I had baited up my hook at the truck with a nice 1/2oz blood red rattle trap, had a few of them. On my first cast I caught a 8.5lb fish my brother still had not gotten his rod or gear ready so he grabbed the net and waited for me to get it in. He netted it and the fish dropped right off in the net freeing my lure. (note we always used 6lb line to get out nice & far and have a quick drop to the bottom.) I checked my line not a nick so I cast out again same spot, bang nailed a 2nd fish it came in at 10lbs even. yep people were complaining beginners luck ect. my brother still had not gotten the 1st fish onto the stringer and came back to Net the 2nd fish. This time the lure tangled slightly in the net we got it un-hooked and I re-tied while he finished tieing up his Red-Hallo lure too and I cast out and hooked #3 fish which made it to about 10 feet and got off. lots of people complaining What are you fishing with ect . I had to re-tie so backed up and my brother stepped up into the spot I was at and cast catching one went ~11.2lbs that I landed tangling his lure up some and getting some line rake he stepped back to retie & I cast landed#3 for me 12lbs in 4 casts. Limit was 5 fish then fall all fat with roe.

His 2nd or 3rd cast caught the biggest for us that night went 14.8lbs I had 2nd biggest 1t 14.5lbs we fished getting a lot of flack and gave away probably 30 fish to guys around us not catching. we left and had a ruck sack of 10 fish total weight 123lbs first fish was smallest we caught that night left it on as it was bottom of the stringer. anyone familiar with it knows the walk out is not easy with 123 lbs of fish on your back it is worse but was a one and million night. Had guys wanting to buy the lures from us, I sold 3 I had left for 10 bucks a piece to a couple guys. He sold his last one for 20 bucks to the guy who was gripping the most, who promptly snagged it and broke it off prior to us even leaving Guy demanded his 20 back and got a really good laugh from everyone around. I think we caught somewhere around 43~45 fish that night. around us not more than 4 or 5 fish caught by others. Everyone was fishing with heavy line and casting out into the wind about 30 feet, we cast out twice as far as everyone else and knew where they were hitting, right on the edge of the light house lights. the lighthouse is now dark, so fish dont come up anymore like they used to... was one of out best fishing places. He passed away 18 months ago and I took his son Mark (named after me) and my oldest brother Ken (also fished with us there a lot) up and we sprinkled some of his ashes up there... Was a real nice day up there for it even though we didnt catch any that day he was there with us...

I truly wish that I had a good fishing story to post and share. But the truth is, all the "BIG ONES" broke my line and got away. Some of my fishing companions did manage to get a few pictures, but the line also broke at times, just as I was preparing to beach the fish because of the enormous size. A dip net wouldn't have been helpful. Another bit of info, that I would like to include: The pictures that I did manage to get were all thrown away accidentally by the Photo Lab. Well, there's always tomorrow or the next day. Hopefully, there will be other record breaking fish in my future.

I was fishing from a boat on a river, came around a curve to the bank lined with fishermen shoulder to shoulder.... Right in the middle of them was a grizzly also fishing, it had people all around it fishing and they maybe allowed it to 'spots'. Was the weirdest thing i ever saw!

One of the coolest things to happen to me was on the Chesapeake Bay. My buddy and I were catching little dink striper after striper in the discharge water of a nuclear power plant. We saw one of the other boats get a cell phone call and take off like a bat out of heck. After about 20 minutes we followed after them.

We caught up with them about 7 miles out and there were about 20 other boats and thousands of birds. If any of you guys have ever seen white bass make the water boil when the school is feeding....imagine something like that covering about 160 acres.....and the schooling fish are stripers! It was simply amazing. We were throwing sassy shads out and if a fish missed it at first you would have 3 or 4 more bite on the way back. We each caught about 25 5-15 lb stripers on what seemed like consecutive casts.

Well, it was sundown and we had a ways to go to get back so reluctantly we headed back. We just hit our inlet at dark and felt lucky to get back. I had to catch a flight early the next morning. My buddy called later the next day and had heard that several boats that were in the 160 acre frenzy stayed out too late. A thick fog came in and the had to spend the night on the bay. I would've missed my flight if we had stayed even another 15 minutes.

I will never forget the sight of the water boiling like that....

Not much of a story but fishing has been good for us off the coast of CT so far this year, way earlier than last year. We put about 25 in the boat about this size in 3 trips so far. Fingers crossed for more and bigger to come. Heading to East Grand Lake in Maine this weekend for some smallmouth.

Oh, and how can we forget the early season trout fishing with the boy, probably 60 or so just like this.

Surf fishing on Cape Lookout, a young but rather large member of our group hooks up to a large fish... jerks the rod so hard it breaks his line. He comes walking and talking about the "Hit" about a minute later my friend "hooks" this same fish but was able to land it. I dropped my rod and go into the water behind the fish just in case it gets off.

I picked up the 28" Red Drum - beautiful fish... and bring it up to my friend when I noticed that he didn't hook the fish but rather he hooked the kids rig that was very well set in the fish's mouth!!! So he landed it... hook to hook, as soon as the line slacked off, the hooks fell apart. Crazy.:confused2:
