My air filter was pretty clean so I blew it out with the compressor and put it back in. Look up the agco p/n and see what cross references. Google agco parts book and use the guest button to look up p/n's.

And I had to buy a tail light and some small parts too!! Paint needs attention too, but it'll have to wait.

1440 Air Filter Issues.
After not being able to get a crossover number from my existing air filter, I went to agcoparts.com as suggested by Ovrszd. It said the correct filter number was MF 4260638M1. I finally found the filter on the internet and checked the dimensions against mine and for some unknown reason they were not the same. I eventually went to the local NAPA store to look in their catalog for a filter with similar dimensions. The CSR found one after about 15 minutes. NAPA filter # is 500027 and was priced about $45. Of course they had to get one from another store and for me to come back that afternoon. When I went back they had it laying on the counter, and the nice lady CSR only charged me $31.44 including tax.
I later found a WIX crossover (WA10027) at fmsfilters.com for $19.85 plus about $14.00 shipping.
I am thinking that I have the numbers for all my filter needs. Oil: NAPA 1360, Fuel: NAPA 3507, Trans: NAPA 1664.
Maybe this will help someone in the future.
1stDeuce I do not know why our numbers differ. Perhaps it will come to me next time I am changing filters.

Whoops, I missed all this activity. I took pictures of my filter boxes back then, but didn't label them as to what's what. I do remember that the Massey Dealer had a heckuva time getting the right air filters. It was like keystone cops for two months trying to get it right.

I'll post the pics just in case any one else is looking. 20160901_123631.jpg20160901_123638.jpg20160901_123645.jpg

So, I've been trying to find info on what to buy and how to seal up the gear box on the mower deck. I must not be using the right terminology because I'm not finding much on info.

I'll say it like this. The round thing on top of the mower deck that has gears and oil, is leaking like crazy. Just started acting up on last mowing session of last year. How do I make the leak stop? Is it just seals and snap rings?

Appears to be leaking from the input shaft seal. Have you looked underneath to see if it's also leaking from the output shaft?

If it's just the input seal leaking I'd check for bearing slack. No reason for a seal to start leaking up there unless the bearing is getting loose.

Assuming the bearings are tight. Many, many brush cutter owners pump the gearbox full of grease rather than oil and keep running it.

It is dry underneath. Bearing slack is a term I've never heard, but I'm guessing it's like checking wheel bearings on a truck. I'll look into that.
The seal that seems to be leaking is on the backside. Looks like a snap ring. Think I'll just take it apart. I was hoping to find a video where some one did this, or an exploded drawing somewhere. Guess I'll have to treat it like the pre-internet days and go for it. 20170430_194311_resized.jpg

Oh, sorry, I thought it was coming from the input shaft seal.

Yeah, if it's just leaking around the rear cover, take it off and investigate. Maybe smear a bead of silicone gasket sealer around it and put it back on?

No leak underneath is awesome!!!!! You dodged a big bullet there!!!!

I know this is an older post, but the information still seems relevant.

From my AGCO ST35 Operator's Manual: Outer element may be cleaned. Use compressed air to remove loose material. Soak outer element for 30 minutes in a mixture of warm water and non-foaming detergent. Agitate filer in the deternent mixture. Rinse until rinse water is clear. Allow element to completely dry without using compressed air or heat. If element is damaged it must be replaced.
The inner element can not be cleaned. Its primary purpose is to protect the engine from dust ingress should the outer element fail.

Periodically pinching the dust ejector on bottom of air filter canister will eject dust particles. Cleaning of the dust ejector will reduce filter element maintenance.

I used warm water and some low-foam HE laundry detergent. Seemed to work, the mixture was black with soot after 30 minutes.
