Guys,
I am trying to remove the brake housing on the right side of the machine. This has the diff lock on it. I couldn't get the differ lock off and i can't get the brake hosing off.

Any suggestions?

Also i notice that my starter s leaking transmission oil? What is going on there? let me know

Got the diff lock off. There was an allen bolt that i couldn't see.
Now I have to wait until i get my service manual to fix it.

I got all the parts and the service manual. Now i just have to get the time to put it all together. Hopefully this weekend.

I had to take off the backhoe, and drop the lower support arm to get the brake cross shaft out. To drop the lower support arm I had to take the ROPS off and the floor and fenders. So right now the machine is in about 5 pieces or so. But i got the new shaft in, now i have to install the brakes and put the machine back together.

Hope I can jump in and ask a question on a 580B hoe,I also have one and it is my first one, I am having trouble with the shuttle shift, after about 30 minutes it want to hang up in reverse when you shift it to forward, you can feel the clutches working to over ride the reverse clutches, I have taken the top plate off to see the clutch pack and can see the reverse clutch pack is discolored and have been hot, I don't think I have over cooked them, any ideas on what it could be? I have changed filter and fluid and am using the case recommended type. any help is appreciated

When I was just out of college I worked for a small roadbuilder w/ 4 560B's and when the master mechanic went to do his first brake replacement he couldn't figure out how to remove the housing. The mechanic at the case dealer was PA Dutch & he advised him to just shave the lower support arm w/ a torch...in english w/ a heavy PA German accent[you had to be there]...we laughed for a while b/4 he grabbed the torch and followed the directions...Didn't take all that stuff apart though! Didn't affect the performance any either...
