Educate me. I thought the HR10 is basically a tedder that becomes a rake when the hay curtain is moved into position.

The curtain just keeps the hay in a straight windrow instead of being tossed further making pickup harder.

If you take the curtain off it is still a rake as it rakes the hay from a wide swath into a narrower windrow. A tedder keeps the hay in a wide swath and generally spreads it wider then the mower leaves it. Pequea has a fluffer that picks up a windrow and fluffs it up (I think they call it a tedder also) but it keeps it the same width as it starts.

As I have said before, I am currently planning on going with both a Pequea tedder and rake. I keep finding year old models in my area for 3-5k that are in near new condition. The would fit my 45hp tractor perfect as well.

Just talked w/ the coop at lunch and theyll be out nxt week to do the spraying (gly4 + surfactant + pre-emergent). It just doenst pay for me to own the spray equip + all the cleanup. After a 2-3wk withdrawal Im going to broadcast and cultipack or notill. At the end of the hay season I plan to update the Teff thread in the Rural Living forum w/ my results/comments.

Flusher: I was going to get one of those combo tedder/rakes but after some research decided 2 dedicated machines was better than one.

Those fluffers have me curious...look as though theyd work well in areas where its arid enough to dry in a window vs the tedder/rake routine Im used to.
