Just out of curiosity, are your tires filled? This will be my first winter with the 1910, I'm thinking filled turf tires should be pretty good in the snow.....
Am I right?? Any experience???

You may not get the resuls with turf tires you expect. I've only had one tractor with turfs and in snow they just loaded up and acted like slicks. Chains were necessary to do much. Loading the tires helps bu tit is mostly a tread thing.

I'm concerned that your R4s wouldn't handle 6 inches of snow. I looked into this with some experienced hands around here who have seen my driveway and they said I shouldn't need chains because of my four wheel drive. So I didn't get any for my TC35D. My driveway is about 2/3 mile long and it's not really flat anywhere. I guess I'll find out the hard way....!

Snowbound,

It was more or less fine on all but the steepest parts. I did get my chains, they are OFA Hakkis, and I anticipate NO problems with them :)

Just curious...do you have chains for the front too or only the rear?

Rear only. I was told never to use chains on the front end of a tractor..

OK, thanx. Who did you get them from? I was planning to use the chain guy at Chappells Milford store. They quoted me $150 for rear tires in most agressive chain pattern. jimg

Who said never use chains on the front. Every municipality I ever saw with 4 X 4 tractors chain the fronts only. I run a John Deere 710 backhoe (pretty good sized machine at 33,000 lbs) and chain fronts only. All the pulling traction especially when piling snow at the end of large parking lots etc, the pull comes from the front, not the rear. I guess I am a little dazed reading no chains front and from Vermont at that, when all municipalities and large contractors do the opposite and have for a hundred years.

I got them from my NH dealer. They are OFA Hakkis, very aggressive, and very expensive :-(
