Well, my BX22 is on order, but probably won't get here for a bit, so today they had a tractor show at the Kubota dealership in Fredricksburg, VA and I went down there as a knew they'd have a borrowed BX22 to look at.
Oh boy....WHAT A TRACTOR! This one is really, really nice. I was lucky enough to actually have the Kubota Zone Rep explain and show all the features to me. The backhoe drops off in minutes (though you have to install all components of the class 1 hitch if you want to run an implement on the rear) and there is plenty of room at the backhoe station even for us larger boyz (5'11" 225 lb) to climb up there. The seat has a very slick pivoting mechanism to not only turn it around, but lift it up in it's frame a few inches.
The Rep told me he was allocated a total of 5 BX22's for all of his zone (16 dealers) and has 12 more coming in next month, and 20 the month after that.
Some suggestions he made to me: Get the 10" bucket instead of the 12" for the backhoe. If you are digging a ditch, that's less of a cut in the earth to have to backfill, and it will be easier to dig out tree stumps with the 10"er. He told me the turf tires should be fine unless working in mud and will be much easier on the yard in a mower configuration. Also, he does not think that filling the rears for added weight will be necessary as long as the backhoe is attached when using the FEL.
He pointed out several durability features of the backhoe to me (which didn't mean a lot, what I know about backhoes could fit into a thimble), such as cast structures (vs. stamped) and a hydraulic limited instead of chains.
The grill guard that is standard on this model is quite nice and has a 'BX22' logo on it.
I took some digital photos of it, will post when I'm on my home computer where my camera drivers are.
