My grandmother used the make THE BEST Fig preserves. Wish I could have some today!
My mother used to make fig preserves and I guess of all the kinds of preserves, the fig was my favorite. And of course, I sure do like eating just plain raw ripe figs, too. But mother used to also finely grind some figs, add a package of dry strawberry jello for those who claimed to not like fig preserves. I don't think you could tell it wasn't just strawberry preserves.
Milton, do you have any wild persimmon trees? If so, be sure to teach your grandson that you only eat the very ripe ones unless you want to do a lot of spitting. It's hard to get that taste of green persimmon out of your mouth.![]()
