I wish my wife would let me buy the truck with the "wench" on it. I do believe that combo would be useful. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Heheh...

Even though I actually despised language, english, and especially literature classes in school (I still to this day absolutely REFUSE to read poetry... I think I'd rather have a spider put down my shirt /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif heheh - have to seach my other posts to get that one), I still came away with one grammar pet peeve of my own. Effect vs Affect. I have never understood the issue people have separating the two.

I did extremely well in math and science classes in school all the way through college, but only got by in language, english and history. Almost failed a few English lit (with poetry) all out of hard headedness.

"Must be an obsessive compulsive thing. Your almost right."

Must be an obsessive compulsive thing. "You're" (meaning you are) almost right.

Keep 'em comin'!

Even with any grammatical and spelling errors on this forum, it's still a lot easier to understand than communications I’ve had to deal with in the past.

Now, internet forums and tractors have a lot of acronyms, but how many have had to deal with and know the amount of acronyms used in:
Military?
Computers?
Hospitals?

That said I worked on computer systems in a VA Hospital. Having years of experience in all 3 fields gave me an advantage but it quickly became obvious that all projects required a translator to gather correspondence and meeting minutes and translate into English so everyone knew what was actually said. The meetings in particular were hilarious since nobody knew what others were saying but proceeded to throw out their 2 cents anyway.

getut,
Just for fun, I clicked on your signature link. That looks pretty cool. And all this time I thought that photo was a spider web in the sun. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

If you thought that was bad, I thought Henro's photo had him in a lampshade (glug..glug..glug you know!) Now I see it as some sort of Asian hat. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Ya, I actually had some semblance of sanity before I flew like that the first time. I had a love for flying due to spending summers at my grandfathers house who lived within bicycle range of a county airport/National Guard armory. I grew up flying with guys who got tired of seeing the poor little kid with his face mashed into the chain link fence to see everything.

I just THOUGHT I loved flying when all I had done was hard body aircraft (solely as a passenger). Low and slow foot drags through a field or kicking the tops of corn is absolutely awesome.

bczoom,
you forgot one of the worst one's for acronyming everything:

Telecommunications

Now, I'm not talking about the stuff the public sees or hears, but the stuff straight from the CO /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif(central Office), behind the curtain, so to speak. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I think there are two sides to this coin...

When some who is supposed to know all the rules can't do it right, shame on them...I mean the so-called pros who make a living writing.

But when someone posts here as part of the group of tractor lovers who frequent the site, shame on us if we even think about putting that guy down because he uses their in place of there, or whatever...

Communication doesn't have to be rocket science if we don't demand it to be.

I know this post of mine sounds serious, but I guess one of my pet peeves is people who come down on others who may be trying to do their best...or should I say there best their? /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
