Barlows is great to deal with but if your local dealer is real close I would buy local.

The OP profile didn't mention where he was from. But did say 11-20 acres. (I believe)
If you're property is rather large, AND on a mix of flat & hilly terrain, and the price difference is a small as you say, the 2-speed hydro tranny in the L3940 WILL BE WORTH IT. Shifts from Hi to Lo in any of the 3 hydro speeds.....automatically when going up a hill. And you DON"T HAVE TO STOP to shift. It's like having a 6-speed hydro. Each of the 3 main speeds (which you do have to stop to shift) has 2 "sub" speeds. It senses the load on the engine and downshifts.
Without this, you will be stopping and shifting between Hi and Med, or Med to Lo constantly on a hilly environment. It stops feeling like a Hydro tractor after a while.

Very Good description of the Grand L 's Hydro, mater of fact it's the best I've heard when describing the Kubota's premier Hydro, kudos.

I think Kubota is the only company to offer this feature. Please chime in if you know of another. To me, it's the future of Hydro tranny's. It's neat the Kubota offers this but is a shame others don't. I don't have it. Woulda got it, but unlike the original poster, my diff (between my Kioti DK35se) and the L3240 was almost $7000. But (being on hills) I'm between Med and Hi CONSTANTLY. Med is sometimes too slow, and Hi doesn't have the oomph to pull uphill with a load. A 2-speed hydro would be nice. But for the $7k I also got a rotary cutter, A rear snowblower, a Snapper riding mower for around the house and a 3pt log splitter. So I guess I'll keep shifting.

Yes very good analogy, we use the 2 speed Hi/Lo lever on the column all the time. I wasn't aware the others didn't have this.

Deere has AutoHydro with anti-stall. NH has high/low hydraulic motor with high/low switch on fel joystick. Others have this as well. This is not 'Kubota exclusive', but they do a nice job packaging it in. Philip.

I own a Kubota bx 2350 and have had no problem with it over 200hrs. Now. And I was lookin to get around a 40 HP tractor and really had my mind set on another Kubota. Until I did some research and shopped around for awhile. And I finally decided on the 4035 PST. When I was lookn at the Kubota and mahindra the Kubota just really didn't compare weight wise or lift capacity. I mean you have to see how much beefier and heavier duty the mahindra is that was real complaint about my bx it had plenty of pwr but didnt weigh enough to get it to the ground. I have over 60hrs on the mahindra now and I absolutely love this tractor,I did get the rear tires loaded also which I think really helps also but this tractor is a breeze to run and very roomy and comfortable. Price wise they were almost the same these mahindra prices are goin up fast. But that's just my 2 cents worth.
