Grand L 3940 vs. Mahindra 4035

Well, I cannot comment regarding New York conditions and all the rain. As far as the hydraulic issue, I still think that a dealer should at least tell their customers about TBN. Maybe then the customer would get educated on tractor related things and come back to their dealer to purchase more stuff. I don't know, I'm not a tractor dealer.

I know that I have made sales of "TnT" sets to people that had to have them after they saw and used them on some other tractor. I had one guy just about yelling at me. He couldn't understand why Kioti didn't offer "TnT" as a factory option.

Anyway, just some thoughts. ;)

fired up about this one Art? guess I'm getting lazy...

We might do remotes on 5% of L's. Its very few. I could not tell you the last time I sold someone a top and tilt. Yes, its cool and all.... but really... a vast majority of non-commercial users are feature obsesed if they are spending $2000 to not get off their seat. I'd rather sell someone an implement they can do somthing with than see them dump their cash into unnessesary features.

It all depends on what one is doing with the tractor. ANYONE that does more than a little bit of grading is foolish to not have that unnecessary feature in my opinion. But then what do I know, you guys are the experts-tractor dealers.

But with the Mahindra that already has the rear remotes standard, the top and tilt will only cost me $200 if I just do the top, not $2000. :)

I thought I read it just had one remote standard so you could do top or tilt, ;). Remotes are nice, draft control could be nice but I would rather have the choice than pay for something that I just may never use or worse get a free remote but find out that the valve is the wrong style and I need to swap it for one that has float.

If they are doing grading then would it be better to spend the money on a grading scraper than a second remote to get TnT?

There is always those that know what they can do with their tractors and then there are those that can't even begin to think about what they might be able to do!

I am far from an expert, but I have used TnT and while it is nice, it was not worth the little extra money for me; guess I am just foolish.

I do find the hydraulic top link indispensable.

Everyone really should be aware of the available options though to make an informed decision for their needs.

Depends on the circumstances, but yes I can see where a person would be better off getting the grading scraper vs getting a "TnT" set.

This is almost like having 2 wheel drive vs 4 wheel drive. Does one really need 4x4? Most likely not, but it sure is nice to have and it makes getting the job done easier.

As far as being a waste of money, If money is tight, then sure it may well be better spent on something else. But as far as someone not seeing the use or benefit of having a "TnT" setup they either do not have the circumstances where it is a benefit or they don't understand how to use it to it's full capability. There is a reason why most every commercially used tractor with a 3pt hitch that is used for grading has top and tilt. And that reason is not because it's cool to have or because they are accessory happy. ;)

But this just comes right back to options vs standard equipment. I hear the government is going to force every car to have a back up camera and a display in the dash. They say that a few kids a year get killed because they get backed over in driveways. Of course this will get bundled with a GPS. The whole system will probably cost about $1000 to $1500 (they say less but are they ever right). Would you rather it be an option or would you rather be forced to buy it?

I don't think it comes down to waste of money but more a case of deciding where best to spend your money. After all most tractors are sold with a FEL, would you say they should be standard equipment too?
