Hmmm.......been trying to figure where to put an XM radio?? Thanks for the pic's, reminds me of when I upgraded the speakers and took off the top. I also insulated while I had it off.

I thought about putting one of the various Dynamat applications on the underside of the roof to insulate and reduce noise/vibration, but I couldn't figure out how much clearance there was between the roof and HVAC components. It looked to me like the dead space up there was utilized as part of the ventilation/return for HVAC operations, and I didn't want to interfere with that.

Do you happen to know if the insulation still provides enough volume for proper operation, or have you experienced any problems?

Hello Jay.
I had the outer part of my roof removed (L4200)… You are right the space is used as the return air path. Hootie has a great suggestion about insulation, factory should have installed it. I used the ¼ inch thick bubble wrap looking stuff, it has foil on both sides, used in hotrod building and can now be found at building centers like Lowe’s and Home Depot. I used spray adhesive to apply to the inside surface of the top. This works great and has no adverse effect on heat or air, actually it improved the A/C to the point that I never use high A/C, even on the hottest days. During the winter the heat warms the inside of the cab instead of melting the snow/ice on the roof. KennyV.

You can buy rolls of that stuff in either bubble/foil, foil/bubble/foil at FarmTek. www.farmtek.com

It's called Tekfoil and it's a good insulator.

I like dealing with FarmTek. Nice folks and prompt shipping too. Last fall, I bought a 32 x 16 x 78 foot clearspan building from them. It's a nice building and was cheap compared to a pole barn. I need storage for round bales and collected junk and tractors too. I think I'll do the roof on the M9 as well.
