Now the waiting game begins. Congrats. Once you get it take the time to really learn how to use the HST+ system.
While we decided and put a deposit and got the paperwork from Messicks for a:
L3540 HST+
R4 Tires (filled beat juice)
L724 loader
HD Round back bucket with bolt on cutting edge
Would have loved to add the BH92 as well, but that will have to come later.
Thanks for the help everyone.
Not meaning to hijack this thread - but I will temporarily - how much HP is lost with elevation? I'm at 3400 feet and haven't factored HP loss into my planning and attachment usage. Is there a formula I can apply?
The 3940 would be the minimum in my opinion and even it will be slow if you have any hills.
You lose about 3% per 1000ft of elevation.
I had a 3130 briefly. It was a wonderful tractor except for the fact it hardy had enough power to drag itself around. I had a loader and 1000# of weight on the 3pt and it was terribly underpowered. The 3940 would be the minimum in my opinion and even it will be slow if you have any hills.
No really, I understand that we all have an opinion of what enough HP is. I'm sure I would be happier with 40 or 50 HP.

With my 4240 doing various tasks with the auto throttle on my fuel consumption is around .75 gal a hour.
Did you try releasing the parking brake?![]()
No really, I understand that we all have an opinion of what enough HP is. I'm sure I would be happier with 40 or 50 HP. (except for the fuel consumption), but I haven't had any problems doing loader work or anything else for that matter with my 3240, and I'm at 3000ft. I think the OP should be happy with his choice. Some times it takes a little longer to do a job with less HP. I have more time than money, so the smaller HP works for me.
Was your 3130 a HST? I'm wondering if there is a a big loss of power in the trans.
