Grapple kits?

I started my company out of desperation. I had no ability to hold a job, and still don't, due to mechanical problems with my nerve function in both hands combined with chronic neck pain. There's a lot of days I'd love to just work for someone else and collect a paycheck. Don't quit your day job! I didn't have that option. I was fired because I couldn't perform. Working for myself I can do things as I'm able, but my income isn't what it would be if I was still on someone else's payroll, at least not yet. :)

Interesting bit of self-awareness / confession to the world!! THANK YOU for sharing this!! (I mean this! I'm not trying to be a smart-***.) I think a lot of self-employed people are "unemployable". I know that I am at this point. I've been self-employed for a little more than 24 years so far. I could have made more money with a "real job", but I've also had some experiences that a "real job" never would have let me have.

Maybe we should have TBN set up a "I want to start a business" forum and let us self-employed guys give advice. ;)

In my own case it was largely a matter of age discrimination in high tech when "the bottom fell out" of Lucent.
Notwithstanding that my generation got the industry to where it was, the HR clowns thought that three 20 year olds with ZERO experience at 1/3 the price of a 60 year old with 40 years of experience (not 1 year repeated 39 times) were a better deal.

OK, so at least I sucked up the management and biz training on their dime, so I had more than a LITTLE clue.

Not something I would recommend for someone who is just plain "unemployable" though.
I have NO sales training - yet I have to SELL.
I have about 10 seconds when a cold call comes in - to make it or lose it.

My mere "suggestion"; If you have a paying regular job and it isn't very secure ...is to start something part time.
IMO it takes 5 years to really get a business rolling, so start it at least 5 years before you get laid off :D

Given that the O/P has not responded to the recent activity in this thread I think the answer to BradDrummond's question is almost certainly "NO".
Maybe JRP didn't mark the thread and doesn't get updates ?, maybe he has found other pastures ?, either way I wish him well.

The OP hasn't posted anything on TBN for fifteen years so the chances of a response are close to zero. On the other hand, the concept of a grapple kit is certainly appealing to many folks so the question and discussion survives the OP.

IMO, the only grapple kits we are likely to see are the kits designed to be bolted on to buckets. I presume those are still available and would be a worthy addition to any bucket. As I recall when I investigated them about eight years ago, they cost about $500 and just required a drill and some wrenches to attach. Most folks have decided that full grapples are worth more but IMO if a grapple is 100 times better than a standard bucket for dealing with brush, a grapple added to a standard bucket would still be at least 10-20 times better than just a plain bucket.

I'm able to do things I never would've, had I stayed in that corporate money farm. I don't make the money I did, but I'm far happier than I was with the additional income. My physical limitations prevent me from doing a lot of things I'd like to, but I can't change them so I have to adapt and overcome.

The world isn't fair, so you can't cry about it and expect to get anywhere. When you get kicked in the nuts, you best stand up and keep going as soon as possible or someone else is going to run you over while you're blocking their way.
