The ground finally dried up and I got some time to try this thing out. It is awesome /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

It is a WR Long 72" RBG. The bush hog is for ballast.

Getting down to business.

This is actually WR Long's newest customer I think. This guy is taking it for a test run to see if he wants one. I told him he could try it out but he had to work at least 3 hours. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

The big load. This is with the 48 BH on the back. This offers the best stability and increases my lifting capacity.

Looks like a real man-eater to me! I'll bet it can handle anything that you throw at it. Great action shots.

Can I ask how much something like that costs? I have 32 acres of which 5 was timbered (real mess!!) and about 15 is overgrown. I could see using it to clean things up. Not sure if I could use it after that though.

RobA,

I bought the grapple, the electric over hydraulic directional switch, hose kit, and quick disconnect kit all from WR Long. I have somewhere around $2700 to $2800 in the setup. This includes freight. To get exact numbers I have to dig out my receipt but that is ballpark.

I did the install myself just because I always like my own work better than somebody elses. It was a breeze to install once I figured out the hydraulics.

So far I am tickled to death with my new toy....er, uh I mean, this is a very serious tool for some very serious HARD work. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Here's one I forgot. I have about 50 acres of brush like this (multifloral rose) and tree tops from logging and an ice storm from about 3 years ago. I don't know where to start. I've got plenty of work for the grapple that's for sure. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I've needed this thing for years. I saw it here on TBN and just had to have one. I appreciate all the information that is available on this forum. It's incredible what you can learn and get help with. Thanks guys. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Partsman, that grapple is a beast for sure. How much does it weigh? I'd guess it has to be around 1000 lb, maybe more. That's not something to put on any smaller tractor. My rock bucket and grapple are around 800 lb and it sure makes my TC45D feel light sometimes. Doesn't GaryBDavis have the same grapple? ...seems I remember his was a WRLong unit too.

jinman,

According to WR Long it weighs 665 lbs. Believe me it weighs every bit of it too. It does fine with the bush hog on the back but it is incredible with the BH on the back. The BH just doesn't give me enough clearance for all the stuff I get into.

I didn't look it up but I think GaryBDavis was my inspiration. Was he the guy that had it on a bigger JD? If so he is the one responsible for me owning this piece. When I saw the pics he posted and looked around at all the brush around here I just had to have one. /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

It is great for building roads through the woods too. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
