Looking for suggested grapples for the TC40D. There are so many products and types I was ready to give up and just go with a good brand name; Bradco. Then I started reading some of the old posts about grapples and there is a lot of grappling (ha ha) about weight considerations.

I know that pineridge made their own, and it looks great. But, I don't have the time or welding ability to make that happen. So it will be off the shelf and dealer installed.

Also, which spec on the loader do you go by in determining lift capacity? In the NH specs for the 17LA gives 4 different lift capacities. I also read that it depends on where you measure from. They range from 1545 to 2128lbs. If you subtract 600lbs or so for the weight of the grapple, that could mean less than 1000lbs to 1600lbs for lifting the material.

I checked the Bradco site and they list an Ag/Utility Grapple, 66" with a weight of about 600lbs.

Will want to make it a quick attach so I can use it on both tractors.

Suggestions?

Slippy, if you want the lightest grapple with the least work, go with the ATI (preseeder.com) grapple. That one bolts onto the sides of the bucket. If less will do, go with the one from Andy Tatro. You can bolt that mounting plate onto the top of the bucket by drilling and using U-bolts. The Tatro grapple is less than 100 lb and is a lot of bang for the buck (under $500). You will probably spend another $250 just on hydraulic hoses and connectors even if you already have rear remotes. If you want a diverter setup, look for it to cost about $500 by the time you get it satisfactorily rigged.

Weight IS an issue with our 16/17LA loaders. Giving up 1/3 or more of our lift capacity is a big loss just to add a grapple. My 700lb rock bucket and grapple sure limits my lift. I end up dragging some things I'd rather lift and drive off with. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I want to use it on both tractors...so the bolt on would work if I purchased 2 sets of mounting hardware. In looking at the different products, the bradco and others like it have forks instead of bucket, which I suspect would work better for moving brush, trees, etc. I try to "catch" trees now in my bucket w/ tooth bar, and it is not easy, and usually end up with a lot of dirt as mentioned. Will end up with two sets of hydro stuff anyway.

Absolutely get something that is quick attach. Dad has the 66" anbo Lightweight on his TC40DA - on & off in 3 minutes.

Weight is 450# - Cost $2750 last November.

The anbo design is great as it doesn't pick up dirt & has lots of teeth (as far as I know, more than anyone else) that easily grab all the brush. I have a couple pics on my home computer - I'll try to remember to post them tonight.
