Ok I have found my 12VDC selector (diverter) valve the fittings and the hoses all at surplus center no problem. The one piece I can't find is a surface mount SP spring return NO switch for the application. I have found a kit that has a real nice switch but the kit is way more $.

What has everyone else used for the switch? I know many of you have installed this same system set up for your grapples but just what have you used for a switch? I really feel stupid asking this question becaues it is seemingly such an easy item, but I can't find one that fits the application or fits a joy stick!

Yea I have found many switches that can be recessed on the grip but I was looking for a simple surface switch. I really do like the replacement grip though.

Here's what I used with my fasse valve, which is mounted on the FEL arms on my Kubota. I found a Hurst shifter knob with a thumb button, this would normally be used for a nitrous setup in a car. It was about $40.00 + shipping from Amazon but it's widely available on the net. I also installed a rocker switch in parallel on the dash for when I want it locked into the 2nd outlet. Also installed a set of pilot lights on the valve so it's easy to tell that they're working. I used a bosch relay from the switches to control the power to the solenoids. If anybody needs a schematic and I'll draw one up. DSCF2695.JPGDSCF2696.JPG

What about a simple horn button switch clamped just under your joystick knob? This one is rated at 5 amps. If you need higher current, wire the horn button to a commonly available starter solenoid and use the high current solenoid to power the diverter valve's solenoid.

I suppose that would work. There are a lot of different buttons that would work, I think I am just to picky! I am looking for a certain look, problem is I don't know what that is! Ever have that feeling.

I have the same switch in your initial link, but I got kine directly from Fasse with my diverter kit. Call them and see if you can just get the switch from them. It has held up well, and I like it. Www.fasse.com if I recall correctly.

Why not contact the diverter manufacturer, Rankin, and buy just a replacement switch from them? They give the part # in the parts breakdown on the PDF .
Or contact Fit Rite Hydraulics, Brian, the owner may be able to give you what you want. He supplied my Top-N Tilt and diverter valve- just like the one you show in your link.

I'd contacted Idaho Implement earlier today about exactly the same thing.

From the reply email: "The replacement switch (part #309-704) from the Rankin kit is $120 + shipping. It has wires for the battery and about a 2' wire lead on it that plugs into an extension (part #309-702 - $27) that connects to the diverter unit. Since these parts are designed for use in conjunction with this particular unit, we would have to sell them "as-is" with no guarantee or warranty for your application."

For $120, I'll keep looking

I'm also waiting for a response from Rankin as suggested by Coyote Machine. I'll post up once I hear back from them

There are literally hundreds of switches you could use for your grapple. Try looking at Digikey or Mouser. Sometimes I also find good deals at allelectronics

I looked better at my joystick lever handle this weekend and it has a removable rectangular plate where the factory switch (Nimco) is to be installed. Porblem solved remove platedrill hole install any SPST 6A or better switch in hole reinstall plate. Well nothing is ever that simple but on paper it works real good!:drink:
I know that I can buy switch and wire for way less anywhere, and the valve has weatherproof boots that I can buy when I get it it. Since my joystick is on the tractor and not on the loader I bought this plug on ebay the other day

Panel Mount Connector 20 Amps 12VDC 12 Gauge Wire | eBay

so I could unplug the wiring to the valve when I disconnect the 4 hydraulic hoses to remove the loader. I am also going to install a lighted power switch in the dash so I can turn off all of the power to the diverter valve when I have the bucket on and/or when I remove the loader. Switches SPST and lighted are a dime a dozen (so to speak) any where auto parts store, wallyworld, hardware stores I like ebay less driving better selection and in most cases shipping is free, but if you need it tomorrow then ebay is out. Ok I think I have found everything I need all I have to do is part with the money!

Get rid of the 2 on the end. That is the one I have.

Here's the gadget I got in the mail today to monitor house loads. This panel shown has no wires connected to it. a couple of clamp on transmitters connect to the 2 mains coming into the house and transmit the readings to the panel shown. 4 clamp on's are furnished so two can be used on the gen set as well.

From what I understand this will keep track of 2 years worth of data.

Absolutely. The only issue I have with any part of my 3rd function/grapple system is the problem relieving pressure to allow reconnect. ...Well documented in these forums... The switch is very solid.

I have found it easier if engine is stopped, turn key to on position, engage grapple switch, work joystick both ways to relieve internal pressures.
