I have a John Deere 3320 that I would like to put a Root Grapple on. I like the design of the Faver products. The problem is they are heavy and may be over kill for my tractor but I am hard on my equipment. The one that I am looking at is 619 lbs. Is that too much my my loader? I an not sure how much the stock bucket weighs to make a comparison.

You'll get great advice on here from experienced operators. My opinion is that 619 pounds is way too heavy for your tractor.
I think the ideal grapple for you would be our 50" Single Lid Wicked Grapple. It is PLENTY strong for the 3320 and other compact tractors up to around 35hp, and weighs only 274 pounds(255 pounds if you remove the intermediate slats).
The heaviest I would recommend would be our 54" or 60" Dual Lid Wicked Grapples, which weigh 349 and 382.
There are other choices out there. Keep in mind that the weight needs to be as low as possible to maximize your lift capacity.

Here is a video of our single lid grapple in use on a CT122 Bobcat, which has less HP and a slightly smaller frame than your 3320. It is amazing what those little tractors are capable of when the attachment is properly matched.

My Land Pride grapple - SGC 1560 - weighs 820#. My FEL bucket weighs - 463#. Simple math says the grapple reduces my total lift around 360#. I'm willing to accept that because the grapple is very HD and I'm not about to bend or break it.

Assuming you have the 300cx loader, from what I have found, the stock bucket weighs about 210 lbs. The lift spec at the pins is 960 lbs, if you put a 620 lb grapple on it, you won't be able to lift much.

AGREE. ... OP - you need light and strong. Fortunately narrow is usually a benefit too. EA seems to have it all covered here with use of hi strength steel and selective drilling to preserve strength while minimizing weight. Also there is almost no benefit to multiple jaws and youre always stuck with their extra weight and profile.

My tractor is similar in size to the Original Posters, If not a little larger, and a little more lift capacity I think, and I have the EA wicked 50 inch single lid.. It works well for me. I like its light weight and strength. Everyone's needs in a grapple is not the same of course.

I just sold a 73 inch heavy grapple that I used on my L4600 because it was so heavy made it unstable when lifting loads high. I am looking at the 60 inch wicked grapple with dual clamps but I don't use mine as a root rake I just load brush with it.

Should be about 400 lbs more than that at the pins, and about 1000 lbs 500 mm forward of the pins. I do agree that a 620 lb grapple is too heavy for a 300cx
Okay, you guys have convinced me. I want as much lifting power as I can get. As I said, I am hard on my equipment and I have really beat my bucket up. That was the thought process behind getting something heavy but I would be more upset about it not being useful than having to work on it every once in a while.

I just finished cutting down and moving 51 trees (6" to 36" diameter) using my 60" Wicked Root grapple from Everything attachments - some of these trees were enormous. I have an L3800 Kubota and my grapple and tractor moved all of the limbs, trunks, and stumps (stumps were dug up with a backhoe) - some of the stuff I moved almost a half mile away from where I cut them down. I was clearing land for a pole building (just finished 4 days ago!
). My grapple did one heck of a lot of work without a single problem - and I did not baby it - I worked it. I would absolutely buy another one from EA without question - the value (cost + quality) is outstanding - I am very happy with it and I think I proved it can do a lot of work.It is also an awful lot of fun - I try to think up things to use it for!

Land Pride makes a 10 series grapple that is lighter than the 15 series. A 60" grapple is 389 pounds with their universal quick hitch mount installed. They use a high strength steel (AR400) which has almost twice the yield strength of what they quote for the steel on the EA grapples.

I have a Faver 314 grapple on a Gehl 6635 skid steer. This is a 2300lb lift machine. Having put at least 100 hours on the grapple, there are very few signs of damage. Yesterday I noticed the cylinder guard had a very slight dent in it. Another vote for the EA Wicked Grapple. I have the single lid on my 33HP tractor and couldn't be happier.

The 10 series LP is more like our ETA Root Rake Grapple, which is a different design with less demand than the Wicked Grapple.
Land Pride uses AR 400 for their teeth, not the entire grapple(LP Literature), which we also use for our teeth.
Also, I do not think LP offers their grapple with a JD style quick attach. We do not charge any extra for the JDQA.
