Yes Neil,we heat our home, hot water, have 2 ventless gas heaters, one for the shop and one in the garage and have a gas heater for the pool, also 2 gas fireplaces.
On an average year we will consume 1,500-2,000 gallons .Our closest neighbor(also has a big tank) and ourselves will go together and try to buy our L.P. when the price is near the bottom of the market, usually right about now(Aug.-Sept.)
We will contract or pay for the L.P. in advance, and take delivery at a later date.Between the two of us we can come up with a significant savings well below market value during the peak of the heating season.
We had a very harsh Winter in 2000/2001,the price of heating fuels went out of sight,L.P. was selling for $1.25 a gallon and we were burning gas we paid .55 for the previous Summer.
L.P. right now is at .86,we are getting ready to buy at .70-.75,still pretty high, even at as much as we buy.
