Considering one for my Stihl Kombi. A little for the lawn, but alot for my cul-de-sac.

Be nice to have one but for $550 I'll just use a hand rake.
I wish. I bought the power head and paddle the same time, over CAN $800

I bought the Stihl version 6 years ago and it's still in good shape. Spring lawn clean up is about the only use it gets, but I have 3 driveways. I flipped mine over so I'm pulling the stones towards me. Seemed a little easier. I figure an hour with that is worth about 4 of hand raking.

+1 on pulling the stone toward you, vs pushing it. You'll end up spraying yourself some with some of the stone, but it is WAY easier.

Mines going on 10 years.paddle still looks good. As mentioned I sweep a 30 ft blacktop cul de sac and three lawns. I used mine for all the acorns last year too. Pulled them out of the grass and pushed them into the woods. Worked great and didn't hurt the lawn. I also have a string trimmer and roto tiller for it.

Any opinions on how long the broom will last? I have a multi-power tool, broom is an option so may invest in one if durability is not a problem.

You didn't mention brand. Mine is a Stihl Kombi head, and I've had the broom for 5 or 6 years, doesn't look like it's even starting to wear out or anything.

I have used the Echo version for a few years now. If works fantastic.

Thanks for the information. I have been considering a Stihl power broom for years- after all of your reviews, it sounds like it would be worthwhile. I don't want to spend the money, but maybe I should treat myself after 40 years of raking. Hearing my father say "you boys better rake that ditch" was one the more traumatic experiences of my childhood!

I was wondering if I was the only one that has the machine pull towards me! I've cleaned lots of winter sand (as a retired landscaper) and even though you get some sand on (and in) your boots, it is much easier for me and the broom scoots ahead for the next sweep (not as much lifting).
I have the Stihl Combi version and all the attachments are great and make life a little easier!

Agree it is easier to pull it towards you, and that is the way i use it most of the time. When you pull it towards and get right near the edge of the drive you can lift it up a little and it will sift the grass out of the rocks before throwing them up on to the drive. When i get the piles or heavy amounts I turn it around and us it to fling the rocks into the bucket on the loader. After researching it, before I got mine they recommended the larger engine works most excellent, it however is heavy its not any physically easier than racking. So, would a smaller lighter one be better? All I know is it is a whole bunch faster!, and when you pull it towards you its not all that hard. Steve
