Yeah I've seen that. That's why I said start in the middle and work out CW. What I'm asking Richard is he said to go CCW also to keep from piling dirt to the middle. With the angle of the plow the only way I see you can do this is to start at the outside and work to the middle going CCW AFTER going clockwise. Just wanted him to confirm or not.

To be honest, I haven't figured out how to keep excess dirt from piling up in places and having bare spots elsewhere myself.

I will say that the dirt shield is the first line of defense in keeping the plow from throwing my soil completely out of my garden.

If I had your machine and took the dirt shield off off the plow, I bet I could really throw some soil.

 Yeah it can throw it for sure. I adjusted my shield down pretty good where it is just covering up the previous rut the front tire is riding in. Does seem to mound towards the center though. I almost get the feeling that the volume of dirt increases after plowing but I know it is because the soil it aerated and bulked up. Good rain will settle it back down.

Hi! I have a Gravely rotary plow. I prefer dont pulverise soil. I remove two blades from rotor now i have only two. I run my engine at slow speed. I think this is better for soil. Good luck! Oldmech

The soil does get "fluffed." And it gets "redistributed" in places I didn't forsee.

The way I do CCW is to start in the center and make left turns at the end of the row.

The normal way (CW) is to start at the center and make right hand turns at the end of the row.

Nice paint job on the repower! Did you brush, rattle can, or use sprayer? Everyone has their preferred method. Just wondering what yours is.

Some parts are brushed and some rattle cans. Hood was rattle can white. Transmission started as brush and then touched up with rattle can. Rotary plow and mower deck were brushed. Cheaper to buy the quarts of paint at Tractor Supply. You can then either brush or thin and use a spray gun if you have it. I didn't have the paint gun so I got a couple of cans of MF Red and a quart so I can spray later if I need too.

Well I finished up my 5200 this past week. I decided to repower it after not being able to get the old 8HP engine to crank up after sitting for over a year. Thanks to Bruce and others for their info. Started off kind of rough. This is during the tear down phase.

Here is the 13HP Carroll Stream Engine

Here is the original 8HP adapter plate. I decided not to use this as it would have used 5/16-24 bolts to mount the engine and I wanted to use the 3/8-16 bolts instead to support the weight. Found a plate at Gravelyparts.com

Here is the finished tractor.

Looks good Bruce. I'll take 2 of each. What size pipe goes in the hole? Nevermind on the pipe size. Helps to look at the drawing :)
