grease fitting ???

I just came in from the shop. The box of zerks that I bought at NAPA has 10MM X 1 printed on it. Yes, they are large, kinda look like 1/4" pipe threads, but they screwed right in my Kioti backhoe. I am the original owner, so the zerk area has not been modified. Until I hit the darn rock! ;)

I had the same problem trying to find zerks locally for my CK30. On my last wish list from Wallace Tractors I asked for a variety set of commonly used Kioti zerks. I'll be darn if they didn't send me a package of about 8 or 10 assorted zerks for a small fee of course. I haven't had a chance to break into the package and replace the broken one on the front of the front axle. It hasn't been due for a greasing since I got the zerks. I'll let you know if the right size is in there the next time I grease her up.

Hmmm. seems huge! Good thing for assortments... they save us 10 trips back and forth for the one or two pieces we need in trade for some unused product we can sell at a garage sale someday :~}

I made a boo boo. The package of zerks is not a Kioti product. It looks like it has a little tractor logo with a Tisco label. It says they are metric but made in America. I'll pull one of the old zerks and see if it matches any of the ones in the package tomorrow.

I don't know if it helps any but I had a similar problem and stopped at Smitty's in Weatherford, Tx. last Sat. and Virgil told me that Kioti uses two types of zerk fittings. One is the standard screw in and the other is a drive in that you install with a socket and hammer. You can tell because he drive in has threads that are circular. That explains why I couldn't get a threaded zerk to tighten up in a drive in hole. I often have experiences that require me to apply my palm to my forehead in an abrupt manner.

Wow! XPlainsDave's post is enlightening but disturbing. No wonder you guys are having trouble :eek:

OK, so last thought / suggestion here (I did this for my FEL). After removing the problem zerk (or in my case, NO zerk), drill the hole out to the tap size for whatever zerk you want to put in, tap the hole, screw in the zerk, DONE ;)

The problem with not being able to find proper Zurk's for my dk35 is still elusive. Went back to dealer today, and they gave me what they say is the correct fitting, which they indicated as a 10 mm. They didn't charge me for the fitting, but apparently not the correct one, cause it doesn't fit.
Took a and measured the Outside diameter of the threaded portion. The Defective Zurk measured 0.382"
Another Zurk off the tractor measured 0.383"
The Zurk given to me by Kioti dealer 0.391"
Under magnification, the thread spacing seems to be the same, as the two zerks appear to mate together pretty closely.
The Kioti fitting off the tractor, is longer by about 1/4" and appears to be more tapperd at the start of the fitting.

Does anyone have some insight on to what is going on. ... :<(

The size is correct, the problem is that the one that came out is a metric pipe thread, it is slightly tapered. I have not been able to find a source for them. work the old one in and out of the hole a little to expand it or buy a 10mm tap to open it up. I have done both.

Are you conerned that perhaps the hole into which you are trying to place this zerc has been buggered? If you have doubts about the hole then verify its integrity by swapping a zerc from somewhere else on the tractor.

Next time you're at the dealer, ask him to give you one from a tractor on his lot and have him figure out how to replace it.

Just be sure to use the socket! Some doofus at the place that built my dump trailer hammered a bunch of them in right on the top without a socket. Buggered them up so the grease gun won't seal to them, then being press fit they are hard to get out to replace with new ones:cool:
