The weather should be warm this weekend so I will have at it again. I am going to make the access hole big enough to get an end wrench on the fitting. and get a swing on it. The hole now is only a little over an inch in diamater. I can grind it out some.

I have a hard time believing there isn't a better way than to make the hole bigger. Swivel head gear wrench perhaps?

The majority of zerk problems are due to old dry grease.
Heat cures most times or a light tap on that little tiny ball at the end of the zerk also helps.
When heat and tapping fails, simply replace as zerks are like a 'dime a dozen', well not quite but really cheap.

Everybody has, at one time or another, had a "difficult" zerk.

Not me ever, the grease just flows beautiful and I never get greasy hands. Now I need to go and feed my unicorn:laughing:

What a clever idea! Any idea what these things cost? I can see all sorts of places where not using a torch would be a great thing!

Want to say it was under $400, get an extra one of the soft wire rap ends. I use it more than I thought I would.

$499 on Amazon for MD-700 .... ouch

But so awesome... if you work on rusted equipment most of the time.

Try a heat gun. This one is on sale this weekend for $8.99. I have one that works very well.

1500 Watt Dual Temperature Heat Gun 572°/1112°

If you get the grease zero out, use a small screwdriver and dig out as much of the hardened great as you can. Blow out loose prices with compressed air. If you have some Fluid Film squirt some into the fitting hole and let it soak for an hour or so. Work brake pedals a few times during soak. Add more fluid film. Replace grease fitting after assuring that it passes grease or install a new one. Try your grease gun again.
