Has anyone tried that new Lincoln 12V cordless grease gun? It's very pricey at about $170, but if it works the way they say it does, it might be a good thing to ask for next Christmas. Seems like a good compromise between the ultra-portable manual-pump guns and the shop-tethered pneumatic ones.

Now I've forgotten who posted a message in the past about having one of those; MChalkley and someone else, I think.

I've not used one myself, but when my brother was a Matco Tool Distributor he sold several to mechanics who worked on trucks, tractors, etc. in the field and said he never had a complaint.

Bird and Mahlers, I started the last Lincoln cordless grease gun thread. After leaving "hints" around the house one suddenly appeared for a Valentines gift! Ha!!! I love it. After I greased the 27 zerts on the loader and backhoe I was looking for more places to grease. It makes a sound like weeeez weeeez weeeez, as you hold down the trigger, that was three squirts in three seconds. You can hold the hose on the zert while squeezing the trigger, no air hose, no sore hand or arm, life is good. The cost was $149 + shipping = about $157. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

That's good to know - when I saw one of those, I thought it could be the perfect grease gun as long as the battery holds up OK. My pneumatic gun works fine, but that air hose drives me crazy when it gets tangled up in things and knocks other things over. I'm having a hard time justifying the price (ten times the price of my pneumatic) - so I'm going to have to start leaving hints around the house, too.

I was surprised at how low their shipping cost was on that ($2.95) until I read down and found the additional $5.95 "Handling and Processing" charge. Seemed like a lot to pay for an $11.99 grease gun. Did they charge you this fee or did I misunderstand what it applied to?

Man, I struck out all around....

TSC only had the lever guns and the battery operated Lincoln (no way I can justify that for what I need. Besides, I have horrible luck with rechargable batteries).

Northern had one by Wellbuilt and one with their own name on it. However, other than a slightly different texture on the handles they looked identical. They were $29 and $35.

Sears carried a Craftsman one for $50....ouch!!!

Pep Boys had one (can't remember the name...something with Mechanic in it) for $29 but it looked exactly like the cheaper one at Northern.

Maybe I'll try the one at Harbor Freight. Even with the high shipping and handling I'll still end up ahead. Besides, I still need to pick up one of those auto water drains for my compressor.

Whenever I buy anything from Harbor Freight, I wait until I've got at least $50 worth of stuff I need. Shipping is free for orders of fifty bucks and more - although you still pay that "handling" fee of about six bucks. It's not bad, though, if you're ordering something that weighs a ton and would cost an arm and a leg to ship through Northern Tool.

I had a couple of those long handled hand pump ones.. but got tired of that.. and some zerks I needed a hose some I needed a straight neck.. I ended up just getting one from TSC for 15.xx that was justa a hand pump.. one hand operation.. leaving one hand to do whatever with. It has a short nipple end.. so no hose needed.. etc.

Works great. I just greased my NH 1920 with it yesterday... about as fast as the long handled ones.. but easier..

Jeff, I got charged the $5.95. The total cost to me was $20.89. That is still cheaper than the others I've seen and you can't beat the convenience of shopping on the net. Plus it was tax free for me. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
