Jeff, I am fortunate enough to have a Harbor Freight Store here in my hometown. I didn't even know they had stores until passing by one day and noticed it. So when I got home, I went online and looked to see the grease guns, went to the store the next day and bought it along with an impact wrench, deepwell metrics and a BUNCH of other goodies. I gotta stay out of that store! Oh, I went back and bought a nice little compressor for $85 that's just amazing. My old one crapped out right after I bought the impact. John

Well, we must have one in my state somewhere. I see that I will also have to pay sales tax on an order. On a good note, I just happen to have one of their catalogs. If I buy now I will get $5.00 off annnnnnnnnnnnd a free set of knives!!!! Not sure if they're ginzu or not though.

All kidding aside....I will buy one of their grease guns soon. I am also looking at getting an auto compressor drain and a set of torque sticks for my impact gun. These are both items I have bee thinking about for a while. That will easily put me above the $50.00 mark.

Jeff,
My understanding is that the Harbor Freight catalog mail order company and the retail store company are two distinct legal entities. I tried to return a set of arbor plates that I had ordered to a store and was told that the mail order company belongs to the father and the retail stores are owned by the son. I think I have seen a SC address on some of the packages that I have ordered from the catalog company so they probably have a brick and mortar presence in the state and are required to collect sales tax. There is a retail store in Kennesaw, GA but GA residents do not pay sales tax on Harbor Freight catalog orders. If you want to find the store nearest you, I do believe that there is a retail store lookup on their website, though.

Hmmm, hadn't thought about that; wonder if the Bass Pro shops are the same way. One of my brothers ordered a single item from Bass Pro and they sent two of the items separately and billed for each one separately. Since he was coming up to my place and there's a Bass Pro shop nearby, he thought he would just return the one sent in error for a refund, but the store refused to take it and said he'd have to re-package it and ship it back. He was not happy with Bass Pro.

No store near me in SC but I did find one in Charlotte, NC which is just North of me. One of these days I'll make the treck and see what they have. Until then my hand pump gun will have to do. It works fine except I have all sorts of trouble getting the tip off of the zerk once I've pumped it up. I also have one of those tips where you turn it to attach and release but it doesn't hold on well enough which is a problem with the hand pump model what with both hands needed to operate the gun itself. It worked fine with the pneumatic gun......when the gun worked that is.

Sometimes it's no more than a matter of changing the position of the equipment the zerk is in to get it to come out easily. Same as when you can't get grease to go in, move the thing some and usually grease will then enter. Otherwise, I just have to YANK THE HECK out of it!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif John

I received my grease gun Saturday from Harbor Freight. What a beautiful unit for $11.99! The quality is outstanding! It went together real easy and once primed, it was magic. If your looking for an air powered grease gun, I'd recommend buying this one.

I agree - I've got one, too. You can't beat it for the money. Now, if it holds together for a few years longer, I'll really be happy.

They have some good stuff - cheap. I recently bought a well-pump from them that is proving to be a great unit. For about $80 I got a 1 HP pump with an integral 5 gallon pressure tank, pressure gauge, and pressure switch. You just attach 1" pipe, plug it in, and it works! It's fantastic for using my creek for irrigation and out-building water supply.

I have only one time had to get an air pocket out, that was the first tube. Since then, no problems and lots of tubes later (I'm wild about greasing a lot). As, I believe, Wallace posted once, grease is cheap. This nice little air gun sure makes it easy to keep up the equipment. Now that I finally got the backhoe, I'm REALLY happy to have this gun. I think I now have about 30 zerks all over the place. John
